Take only what you need; the rest is only a burden.
People are forgetful and take more than they need when shopping or when they pack for trips. They take things they haven't used in years but keep them because they might be helpful to "someday."
But eventually, these things pile up and become a burden to the person, their family members, and society in general.
This is because people take "what's the difference if I keep these things," which leads to an irresponsible attitude towards things.
As a result, they may use more resources than they need or use unnecessary items just for the cause of being able to say they have them.
However, many people take only what they need, not more. These people realize their responsibility towards society and feel it is essential to be conscious of how much they consume.
They usually try to live an environmentally friendly lifestyle to prevent unnecessary waste in the environment and society.
On the other hand, it can be assumed that people who take more than they need are wasteful and irresponsible. For example, you could say that people who don't take their car out of winter storage when they could are wasteful.
On the other hand, you could say that people who take their vehicle out of winter storage and go out and drive around town even though it's just for a short time is also wasteful.
We live in a substantial world, and we must use things to live our lives successfully. But once we have finished using something, we must throw it away responsibly.
If we don't do so, we will be burdening ourselves and others unnecessarily.
If you've been given something from a friend or relative, it is acceptable to keep it without complaint.
However, no one will force you to keep gifts from strangers, so only take what you want. Take things when you really need them and dispose of the rest responsibly.
That way, we can all live happily and take only what we need. We may even end up saving our friends and family members the trouble of disposing of things for us when we die.
At the same time, you must also take care of the things that you keep for yourself, just for "fun." These are your precious possessions.
If you don't mind taking extra time to enjoy them, then they are fine. But if you don't want to do so, or if they are no longer of use to you, they should be disposed of responsibly.
When something gets out of hand, it is often difficult. However, if you decide to live intentionally, the things that pile up will not be a problem.
By being conscious of how much you consume, being responsible about what you keep for yourself, and being thoughtful of the things there only because they are there, we all can live comfortably in this material world.
