5 Practical Shyness Tips That Work Everytime

So, you're shy. You might think it's a terrible thing, but personally I don't see the problem. It might be tough to get up and talk to people when you first start out, but if you practice enough (and yes, that means a lot of practice!) anyone can overcome their shyness. And trust me when I say that your future success could depend on it: getting over your shyness is not only one of the most important things in life for an introvert like yourself, but also central in finding and keeping a job or making friends with ease!

So without further ado...here are the 5 tips that will help you overcome your shyness:

Tip 1 : Fake it 'till you make it - I know this doesn't sound too promising, but trust me, if you're shy enough, people might mistake you for a leader! I know that sounds funny, but it's true. When you try to get up and talk to someone or interact with them however much as possible (without hurting their feelings of course), they'll think of you as a confident person with nothing to prove. Of course this only works if you're shy, and don't let them push yourself in any way.

Tip 2 : Don't let them know how you feel - Yeah, I know that it's super hard, but one of the best ways to get over your shyness is to put on a facade of confidence. Of course you'll have to practice beforehand and get the basics down if you want to look natural when you're doing this, but with time and a little bit of thought anybody can do this. I know it's not easy, but learning how to hold back from screaming "help me!" can make all the difference in overcoming your shyness.

Tip 3 : Take a deep breath - I know that it's easier said than done, but personally, I think that taking a deep breath and holding it for about five seconds before you go up to talk to someone is one of the best ways to get over your shyness (and let me tell you, I've had my fair share of practice!) By doing this, you'll be able to collect yourself and be able to speak with the person with the confidence you need.

Tip 4 : Practice makes perfect - You cannot learn how to overcome your shyness overnight. It's just not possible. If you want it bad enough though and will do whatever it takes (including making awkward mistakes) then eventually you'll get there.

Tip 5 : Take the plunge - This is a little more bold of me, but if you feel that you're ready for the chance then just do it. Go up to people, talk to them and make yourself comfortable. As cliché as it sounds, you never know until you try.

Good luck!
