A 3 Point Plan To A Brand New You

A better reason to learn a foreign language? Hear me out. In this day and age, knowing a second language can be the key to your success. More than ever before, the world is becoming truly globalized. English speakers should not get too comfortable in their home markets because they are in more competition than ever with people from all over the world who are learning our language as well. Translation software has helped us communicate for years, but it's no substitute for speaking like a human being (or so I've heard).

If you're not convinced yet, here are three benefits:
1. It will most likely lead to better jobs
2. It can help you travel and communicate more easily, even with people you may not have met before.
3. It can also make you a better citizen of the world.
When I was growing up, we all learned English and French in school, but that's not what we did on the weekends. We wanted to learn how to speak other languages fluently so that we would know how to interact with the speakers of those other languages. There's no better way to do this than to travel, meet people and immerse yourself in their cultures. This is what I am doing right now by traveling in Canada learning more about French-speaking culture (which I already speak well since I learned French as a second language). I would highly encourage you to try this as well.

Here are some video's and links to videos of people explaining why they chose to speak more than one language. Please view and enjoy!

Currently I am taking French at the University of Toronto. I have been learning French for 7 years. I started because my parents wanted to give me a head start and later it became my passion. When I started learning French, I was afraid of the language but with time and practice, I have improved my French skills now to a level that's comfortable for me. - Charlie , University of Toronto,  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daOe-d6U33g

"To learn a foreign language is to be dropped into some hot and lonely province of your own mind. It is to be banished from an easy life and sharpened by hardship into a kind of courage that makes you curious and imaginative. And to know another language is to hear the music of the spheres." - Marcel Proust

"The true advantage of a good foreign language is that it gives you direct access to the thoughts of other people in their own words." - Margaret Visser "You'll learn valuable social skills, too.

Conclusion: Learning a foreign language is extremely beneficial and rewarding. That's why I'm so excited to learn and speak French fluently. French can help me travel the world, it can help me communicate with different people from various cultural backgrounds, and it can help me be a more thoughtful person. Learning a foreign language is easy if you just let go of your fears, learn the basics, do some research and practice every day.
