It's natural to feel like you're missing out on life. There are so many amazing things that happen every single day, and it can be very hard to see them all. We've been used as fools for too long, so it's nice to help change the perception that people have of us technology addicts and gamers.
So take a look at these helpful tips and tricks, and enjoy a bit of a reprieve from your day-to-day boredom!
1. Make a list of everything you enjoy about the day
I find that when I'm feeling particularly down and out, it's always because my mind is just in a funk. It's not on anything in particular, and I can't really pinpoint why I feel sad or bummed out at all.
One thing that helps me out of these dreary moods is to start making a list of all the things I love about my day. I know, it sounds a little crazy. But it's actually worked wonders for me.
Maybe you think I'm nuts. But I don't care. It's helped me out of some pretty dark places, and I know a lot of other people who say the same thing. It's worth a shot if you're feeling down, right?
What exactly am I doing? Well, inevitably there will be something that you love about your day or your life in general - something that made things better or that brightened up your day. Write it down.
I know that sounds really ridiculous. But it really does help you if you're feeling down. You might not even know what it is, and I was in the same boat as you once.
2. Watch a movie or play a game (or both)
Now this isn't something that will make you happy, but it can definitely help release some of the negative feelings that come with feeling sad and down. Video games and movies have been proven time and time again to help us forget about our troubles while we're stuck on hold or waiting in line. That's why they're great! And now we've found another fun way to help with that problem!
You can easily make this work for you by simply going through your "things I love" list one more time. Think of your favorite movie scenes and video game levels. I don't care if you're the most emotional person ever, the best movies and games are always happy, fun ones.
Try to think of something that makes you feel good in the middle of a boring day. Once you've got something in mind, go do it! You'll be feeling much better after working out some of that day-to-day boredom.
3. Open up a new tab every time you go online and read something on one web page
If your day is dragging because you're just not paying attention, this is an awesome way to make sure that your mind is staying fresh and active.
Whenever you go online, just open up a new tab and read things on a single web page. It can be news articles, blog posts, random forum posts, whatever! Just make sure to keep opening up tabs every time you read something new.
This is one of the best ways I've found to keep myself fresh and going without getting bored. It helps me stay interested in what I'm reading because there are so many different things to read!
4. Go for a walk
Another way to keep yourself from getting bored is to just go for a walk. Whenever I'm feeling bored and unable to concentrate, I'll get up from my desk, go outside, and just walk around. It really helps me focus when I do this.
What I do is jump online for five minutes or so, then head outside for a quick 5-10 minute walk (or longer if I feel like it). When I come back inside, my mind feels clear and refreshed!
Try going on a short walk whenever your day starts dragging. You'll feel better when it's done.
5. Go outside
It's time to get out of the house and go outside! When you're near your computer, it's easy to feel like you're missing out on life. So get an old pair of shoes, pack a bag, and head outside for a little bit. Take a walk and see the sights. It'll happen quicker if you just do it!
6. Pay attention to the music playing in the background (or turn it up)
When I'm having a really bad day, I usually have no idea what's going on at all. The simplest things can seem like big problems, and I can't focus on anything.
Conclusion
When I feel like this, I'll jump on YouTube or another music streaming site and just listen to a song while I'm doing something else. It really helps me stay focused when I do this. Don't be afraid to play your favorite pop song (or hardcore metal) one more time!
Sometimes all it takes is a little bit of inspiration to get going again. If you can find some motivation and pull yourself out of that funk, do it! It'll be easier than you think.
7. Watch a video about what you're searching for online for at least two minutes
One way that my brother has found to beat his boredom is by watching videos related to what he's looking for online.
