Addiction To Venting
The Internet is busy and we are all faced with the challenge of deciding how to spend our time online. Some people obsessively check their Facebook updates, others spend hours playing computer games. But have you ever thought of how much time it takes to simply read a blog? One study conducted in 2011 on "Reading Disgust" reported that readers tend to be upset for about 24 minutes after reading an article filled with bad language or inappropriate content. That's a lot of time lost!
If you want your posts to connect with more readers, it's helpful to take note where your audience needs help or perspective. You can tell what topics affect them by reading their comments and engaging on social media like Twitter and Facebook.
But there is a better way.
It's time to stop wasting time reading blogs!
I'm not being rude. Blogging about others and their failings is a wonderful hobby. To vent about others and their failings is even more fun. And if you spend enough time criticizing the problems of society, you are bound to become an expert and gain followers who admire your insights.
It's called "Venting" and it can be fun, but at the same time it's a waste of time.
Time is a limited resource. There are things that are important and things that are not.
Do you really want to spend your time reading blogs and writing comments about them? My suggestion is to scroll past all the blogs you don't care about. Put up a mental block so you don't even see the content of blogs you don't care about. You would eventually get to the point where all you'd see was posts like: "OMG! I hate this blog and its readers. They have no respect for me. I can't wait to leave this blog and never return."
This will improve your quality of life so much, you'll wonder why you didn't do it earlier.
People are too busy watching TV, reading magazines and various blogs to actually do anything productive. All the time wasted on the Internet is not being used for the purpose it was supposed to be used for. If people spend their time complaining, they'll be so overwhelmed by their feelings of anger and frustration, they won't have energy available to think about new ways of doing things or make new connections with other people.
"Venting" is an exercise that requires time and thought. This is time you don't have to waste. All your time should be spent doing something that contributes to the improvement of your life and the lives of other people around you.
Don't be so busy "venting", you'll never make it to the next level!
I realize I'm being too harsh in my criticism of blogs, but blogs are a great way to get ideas and comments from readers as well as expose your own experiences in a situation, whether good or bad. But all this multitasking (reading blogs and writing comments on them) is taking away valuable time from my daily routine.
I'm not saying you should never read blogs. I'm just suggesting you should make better use of your time and stop wasting it on things that matter so little to you!
What if we spend our time venting and reading blogs instead of doing things that will actually improve our quality of life?
It's simple. What are the few things that really matter to you? Time is a limited resource. You don't have as much as others so you need to spend it wisely. Possibly, if you try your best, you can accomplish more in the next year than some other people who are totally absorbed in spending time "venting" about the world around them and their experiences with other people.
"Venting" about other people's stories, opinions and experiences is a great way for you to gain entertainment but it'll be time wasted if you don't put your focus elsewhere. You need to find what's important to you and then put your energy on that. In my opinion, the most important things in life are family and personal relationships. If we spend our time "venting", we might feel lonely, frustrated and unhappy.
It's better to spend your time focusing on making new connections with other people rather than wasting it reading blogs that are filled with negativity.
To summarize, here are the four main reasons why you should stop reading blogs:
You're not really interested in what they are saying.
They'll only make you feel miserable, stressed and unhappy.
All the time wasted reading them will never be regained.
You have better things to do with your time. These things are worth your attention.
The best way to deal with blogs that you don't like is to mentally block them from your site feed so you never see the content again. If you want to support the bloggers, leave comments expressing why they matter (or not). Then take a break and focus on things that really matter in life because: "There are far too many bloggers on this planet as it is. There are so many blogs on the Internet, the world has enough for a thousand lifetimes; since one web page is always born from another web page and so it will go on forever. No one should write any more blogs." (Franz Kafka)

Conclusion: We're either spending more time on what's important or less. Sadly, most people are following the second course. They're not focusing on the things that will make a difference to their lives and, therefore, they never get around to doing the things that will actually help them improve their lives and enjoy more success.
