Confidence: Dealing With And Creating Self Confidence
Being confident is simply a state of mind. Confidence is about believing in yourself, having faith that you can handle whatever comes your way, regardless of the situation. Some people are born with the talent and ability to pull people around them, others are politically adept so they have a natural ability to put others at ease (at least on the surface), while some excel over time in certain fields despite receiving little formal training or encouragement. Regardless of how you approach life -- whether as an underdog or an arrogant know-it-all -- confidence has many benefits and effects that can only be realized when it becomes a regular part of your life and routine.
Confidence is key to showing your true personality. When you have a high level of confidence, you have no issue with saying whatever comes to mind. You're more likely to let your natural tendencies show. Confident people never worry about what others think of them because they are comfortable with who they are as a person, so nothing can change their attitude or way of life. Again, this type of confidence is achieved over time and through practice. For example, if you're naturally shy or introverted, you may have to force yourself out of your comfort zone in order to build confidence.
Confident people don't mind admitting when they make a mistake, but they learn from them. With higher confidence comes a heightened ability to embrace new information and expand your knowledge base. Once you've learned from your mistakes, you'll be better equipped to handle future situations and people.
Confidence also gives you the ability to rely on yourself, which is imperative especially when you're in a new situation where no one may know what to do or who to turn to. Confident people are never afraid of making decisions that go against the grain, because they've already proven themselves capable of handling most situations in the past -- even if their earlier choices didn't pan out so well. Confident people are self-aware, well-adjusted, and self-reliant.
Let's face it: Confidence doesn't just make you better when it comes to navigating the world around you -- it also makes life easier for everyone around you.

#1 - Some people may think that the ability to be confident is something you develop over time. For example, if you're naturally shy or introverted, you may have to force yourself out of your comfort zone in order to build confidence. But the truth is, confidence starts from within and has little to do with what society tells us we should think about ourselves. Confidence is a state of mind and has nothing at all to do with self-defeating habits -- which is one reason why so many people turn to self-help books for help. It's a quick fix of pseudo-confidence that is only temporary.
#2 - Confidence might also seem to be something you can work on with the right tools, like visualization or hypnosis. But confidence is not something that can be acquired through positive thinking alone. Unfortunately, if you don't feel confident within yourself, you'll most likely find ways to sabotage your own success in life. In other words, those who are not confident inside may try to fake it until they make it when they fail at first -- but their confidence will fade quickly over time if they do not address the root cause of their low self-esteem.
#3 - Like anything else in life, there are no shortcuts when it comes to confidence. Sure, you can try to fake it until you make it, but that is never the way to go. It's the same as trying to fix a cracked window with a piece of duct tape. Sure, it may last for a few days or even a few weeks, but eventually it's going to need some real attention or all the window will do is keep getting smaller and smaller until no amount of duct tape will ever be able to fix it.
#4 - Considering how important self-confidence is in business, relationships and in life as a whole, I'm baffled by how many people settle for temporary solutions. But first and foremost you have to understand that confidence is something you build inside yourself. It's how you feel about yourself and your abilities that matters.
#5 - You can still get all the benefits of confidence while skipping the whole temporary solution thing altogether, but first you have to realize that confidence does not work the same for everyone. Each person has to find his or her own way to reach a level of self-acceptance. For example, some people are naturally more confident, whereas others may have had a traumatic event in their life that caused them to lose their confidence completely. Everyone has a different story to tell, so people can't just give up on themselves because they have a "bad case of self-doubt."
#6 - I know people who have tried everything they can think of to boost their confidence. And while some of these people may enjoy temporary boosts, the truth is that much of what they try will only lead to more problems. So if you're having trouble with confidence, try asking yourself why you feel this way and the real reason might surprise you. It's hard to understand how these feelings came about unless you talk about them with someone who can relate to your situation and help you find solutions for yourself.
#7 - Confidence is a learned skill that can be developed over time by learning from past mistakes. If you're more self-conscious to begin with, you'll have to work on becoming self-aware and accepting yourself for who you are. But if you've already got the confidence to deal with any situation, don't try to overdo it. You may think that being confident is an advantage, but remember that confidence means being too sure of yourself and can lead to arrogant behavior if not handled well. It's better to be confident than too confident.
#8 - There's a similar concept of confidence that can be applied in business when it comes to decision making.
Conclusion: If you're working on your confidence, make sure you don't forget to think about why you feel this way. There may be a valid reason that is holding you back from living a life full of self-respect, and the only way to change your future is to become aware of who you are.
#9 - Confidence is the most important trait anyone can have in business. Without confidence, it's hard to know where to start or how best to get ahead in the world of work today. And considering how many people are starting their own businesses today, I believe everyone should consider being confident as an advantage in business instead of something they have to learn through experience.
