Creativity And Original Thinking: Suggestions From Personal Experience.
Creativity is a fickle thing. It often seems to go where it wants, and doesn't stick around long when you need it most. But that doesn't have to be the case. If you have an idea of what creativity means and know that every time you need inspiration for a project, job interview or school paper, all you have to do is take some time for yourself and relax in order to recuperate from stress.
In this blog post I will provide suggestions on how you can be more creative in your daily life, such as by changing your mindset from negative thoughts to neutral or positive thoughts, adopting a more flexible approach with others during conversations etc. This is how I became more creative, and I believe it will help you too.
Lesson Learned: Take time to relax and be creative.

Positive Thoughts, Neutral Thoughts, Negative Thoughts (Source)
Many people are under the impression that creativity requires a lot of effort, but this is not true. In fact, the opposite is true - creativity requires no effort whatsoever! It comes from within you, and your reaction to external factors (in this case stress). For example, my idea came to me while taking a nap: Why not turn boring everyday activities into fun board games with family and friends? Obviously this idea came to me during a peaceful time in my life relative to work and school. This demonstrates that creativity is a byproduct of stress if you have the right mindset. As my studies have outlined in my blog posts, motivation comes from within, and helps you to be more productive when you are working on a project that requires creativity.

It's important to understand your thoughts and emotions in order to reduce stress and develop your creativity. When you feel stressed, it can make it difficult for you to think clearly, so you're less likely to be creative during this time. This is why I started doing yoga every day since my early twenties. Yoga exercises like sun salutations and warrior poses are simple yet dynamic movements that help me improve mobility and balance throughout my entire body while reducing stress simultaneously. There are many different yoga poses that are beneficial for detox, stress relief and meditation.

Some people have a negative outlook on the world, while others have a neutral outlook. This is due to external factors in their lives that were present at the time of their upbringing and development from infancy to adulthood. During my youth I had an extremely positive outlook as I was living with my family in Canada. However, once I moved to America for college at the age of 20 my mindset changed for the worse because I was living by myself and far away from home in a new environment with new people and responsibilities. I never really found the positive attitude I had in Canada again. This is an example of how your life experiences can cause a shift in your outlook, which will most likely turn negative if you don't take the proper steps to change it.

It's important to understand how your current emotional state is affecting your ability to be creative in all situations. If you are able to slow down and calm yourself down whenever you're feeling stressed, you will be able to think clearly and creatively. The process of calming yourself down with meditation and yoga is a great way to improve your imagination, creativity and happiness overall.

Here are some simple exercises that you can try at home to help you be more creative:
Purposefully design the way your living space looks, i.e. getting rid of the old clutter in your room, creating a minimalist work station or having a well lit room with fresh air.
Create a comfortable environment for sleep by turning off all electronic devices an hour before bedtime and reading a book instead. No TV, no computer and no music!

Keep to an exercise routine – physical activity releases endorphins which helps elevate good moods while reducing stress and anxiety.
Exercise regularly – 10-15 minutes of physical activity at least three times per week is recommended for optimal health.
Breathe properly – majority of people breathe incorrectly causing discomfort and anxiety. Through a proper breathing technique, you can reduce stress and anxiety as well as improve your focus, concentration and decision making abilities. Here are some tips on what to do: Slow down your breathing so that you take a full breath in, pause for a moment (holding the breath) and then exhale completely until there is an audible sigh or 'whoosh'.

Listen to calming music - This can brighten your mood and reduce stress.

Create a list of your obligations for the day by writing down what you need to do and prioritizing them.

Write down your thoughts or ideas in a journal. This can be anything from what you are going to wear today, your goals for the future or even how you're going to kill someone if they come after you.
To get over a problem use the S.P.A.R.K method (Search, Ponder, Apply and Review). This can be used for the future while considering all your options.

"I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand" – Confucius. Do things rather than just thinking about them.

Have you ever been working on a task or were in the zone until you get distracted by another task? It's hard to focus on one thing completely to completion if you have something else that requires your attention as well. You may have heard of the Pomodoro technique where you work in 25-minute intervals with 5 minute breaks between each interval. This helps make it easier for you to be more productive by improving your attention span. It takes some discipline to make it a habit but it's worth it.

Be patient – it can take time to find success in your endeavors.

Envisioning my ideal future is one of the key factors in my development as a person, but I need to remind myself not to think too far ahead or idealize my future self too much or else it could backfire when I finally get there.
Conclusion
We all have our own unique ways of thinking about the future, but when it comes to visualizing your ideal life I personally like to take it one day at a time and for the most part live in the moment, trusting that whatever I do today will move me closer to where I want to be in the future. Our minds are constantly at work trying to predict what will happen next, so when we try and conceptualize our future ideal life it can often feel like it's impossible or unrealistic.
