Empowerment Through Choice
In the past, it was assumed that people have no control over their lives and nothing could change. However, now that the world has changed with new technology, we all can make changes to how things happen. People do not have to accept what others want them to do or think anymore because they can now be in control of their lives and determine who they are. They only need to acknowledge and accept these changes in order for society as a whole to benefit from these new ways of thinking. With people taking more control over their lives through empowered choices, we are also bettering our chances at success by creating choices that suit us best without sacrificing quality or following trends blindly just for "social acceptance". However, we still need to take responsibility for our choices and realize that we are the ones making them, otherwise nothing will change.
The video starts off with a woman saying, "When I was born, I didn't choose to be born," then she says in the next scene that her parents did not choose to have her either. She goes on to say that you cannot choose your family or your race, and that you cannot choose whether you're going to like someone or love someone. The first and second portions of this video are sort of contradicting each other because she starts out by saying no one chose their life but then says we do not have control over our lives due to our ancestry or whom we love.
The third scene says if we want to change the way things are, then we need to accept the fact that we have choice. We may not all have the same choices, but we can take advantage of what options are available to us, and make wiser decisions so our choices don't hold us back from success. "Once you realize that you have choice," it says in a scene where a woman is walking down a hallway in an office building, "You can make empowered choices. You can make choices that let out your wild side and help you develop a more profound self, thereby making that other half of you even more powerful than ever before."
The fourth and final scene shows a picture of an empowerment bracelet with the words "Empowerment Through Choice" on it. This is important to remember when learning about empowering yourself because if we don't know what choices to make, then there are no choices for us. If we do not know what choices we have, then our emphasis is placed on others instead of ourselves because if we do not take responsibility for our own choices, then there will be no change and no personal growth will happen.
Empowerment Through Choice:
"If we have the power to choose, then we have the power to change. If we have the choice of making important decisions, and of making errors, then we are in control. The process is simple and very easy; you simply do not make choices that you do not want."
We usually think that our choices are made at random, but this is simply not true because every choice we make has a purpose. For example, when deciding what to wear each day, you may want to wear a red shirt or a blue shirt but you cannot choose both at the same time because one will go with your blue pants and the other with your yellow pants. Choices can be made in many different ways. For example, you can go on a date with someone or you can decide to not go on a date with someone. The possibilities are limitless but we must keep in mind that we need to make the best choices for us so that we set ourselves up for success and do not live an average life because every choice we make holds meaning and importance.
When people ask me what I think about empowerment and making empowered choices, my response is simply "I am living an Empowered life." Empowerment is real, and it's not just something people talk about or believe in but it is something that everyone truly needs. We need empowerment to be happy and successful in our everyday lives, just like we need water to live. We live in a world where people constantly make choices about things such as: what to wear, what car to drive, what kind of ringtone they should purchase for their cell phone, etc. Many of us don't really realize the power we hold inside us but when you do realize it and start taking advantage of it; you will be rewarded with recognition and success.
What does it mean to be empowered? Empowerment is being free from limitations, restrictions, and opportunities. It is expanding your awareness of yourself and of your surroundings. It is noticing how everything you do has an effect on yourself and those around you. It is the ability to choose who you want to be. It means being able to make decisions without losing control. Empowerment means making wise choices that set you up for success as opposed to making illogical or unnecessary choices that only hold you back or lead toward failure.
The video starts off by showing a few things that are not chosen in our lives: being born into a family, race, gender, etc. These things are not chosen by individuals. They are not picked out of a hat or randomly selected by turning a dial on a machine; they are all things that have been assigned to us at birth. We do not choose these things, and we cannot choose them.
In the next scene, five men are standing in line outside an office building, and the first man says, "My life is an example of ignorance and misery." The second man says his life is being used for profit, the third man says he was meant to die in prison at age 28, and the fourth man says his purpose is to obey another person's commands at work. The fifth man says he wants to be free from his life choice. The first through fourth men are all born into this world, while the fifth man was free to choose his life. The five men are all aware of the choices they made and they have the power to choose again.
The next scene shows five women walking in a hallway, and one says, "I am happy that I was born African American." The next woman says she is not happy; she was meant to be born female. She continues saying that her purpose is for another woman to be pregnant by her husband. The third woman says she does not know where she came from, and that's why no one knows how long she will live or how old she will become. She says she did not choose what she was born into, and that the purpose of her life is to be a housewife. The fourth woman says her life is being used for profit by men who will never know her. The fifth woman says she doesn't know if anyone has ever shown her a choice before; she just knew that her life was meant to be free from all limitations.
The next scene shows a man looking out of a window and saying, "I don't know what I want." He continues saying, "And I don't know why I'm here." He looks down at his hands and says, "I made these choices, but now I'm not so sure if they were the right decisions.
Conclusion:
The last scene shows a man walking up to a building at night, and he says, "I did not choose to be here." He continues saying "However, I have chosen to walk away from this place." He walks into the building and finds that it is filled with water. As he walks in further, he also finds that everything surrounding him is also filled with water. The lights are still on but they are dimmer than they were before. As he turns around to leave the room, a door opens and there is a man standing behind him who says, "You did not choose to be here either.
