 Energy Meditation

This post is about the benefits of doing an energy meditation. Energy meditation is a practice that helps you connect to your natural state of being, and achieve balance and tranquility. With this practice, you will be able to gain mental clarity, easily manage everyday tasks, and improve your physical health.

In order to do energy meditation successfully though, it is important that you take the time to prepare yourself for it. Make sure that you have set aside a quiet space where no one else will disturb you as well as plenty of time for this activity. You don't want allot time for a short meditation, or to rush through a meditation that you intended to spend time on. Have the area you are meditating in comfortably warm and dimly lit. You will want it to be somewhere that feels safe, warm and inviting. If it is possible for you to do this outside, even better! Choose a quiet spot where you can sit comfortably with your back straight up against a support like a wall, with your legs crossed and your hands resting in your lap.

You can also do your energy meditation lying down with your head supported, perhaps by a pillow. As you get better at doing this, you may be able to meditate without any support for your head and neck. Begin the meditation by taking a few cleansing breaths through your nose and exhaling slowly through your mouth. Notice the rhythm of the breath in its natural setting, as it rises and falls in the chest and abdomen. Now bring your attention to each part of the body one by one starting from the toes ending at the top of your head. Focus on relaxing each area now, especially any areas that are tense or sore. With each part of the body that you focus on, imagine yourself breathing deeply into that area, releasing any tension and allowing a feeling of relaxation to flow in. As you get better at this process, it may help to rub over the areas before or after focusing on them to help yourself relax.

Once you have focused on each body part separately, start at your toes again and begin focusing on them all together. Imagine how they feel when they are relaxed…the joints not so tight or stiff. Let any discomfort they are causing slide away. Now bring your awareness up to your calves, relax them as you focus on them. Then do the same for your thighs and abdomen. Move up to your chest and shoulder, and then your neck. At this point, you may want to roll your shoulders a bit and stretch them out. Once you have done all of these areas in a very thorough way, relax the muscles in your face and jaw.

When you are ready to begin the meditation itself, take a long slow deep breath in through the nose filling up your lungs as much as possible…and hold it for just a few seconds before slowly exhaling through your mouth. Now focus on feeling yourself breathe in effortlessly, starting at the bottom of your feet and working upwards through the body…feeling a wave of relaxation move down with each exhalation. After you have done this for 4 or 5 breaths, imagine that you have taken your breath down into the Earth, and it is rising back up to you…up through your spine, filling your lungs with a cool healing energy. Do this for just a few breaths…imagining the breath moving into each chakra one at a time beginning with the root at the base of your spine and ending with the crown chakra in the top of your head. Now imagine all of you chakras are glowing with warmth and light as they become balanced. Imagine the energy moving through your body and into each chakra, calming and settling there. When you feel that the energy is at peace in each of your chakras, slowly open your eyes one by one as you return to ordinary conscious awareness.

This meditation will help to improve the symmetry of both your physical and energetic bodies. By helping to relax the breath in a more efficient way, it will transfer some of this energy upward into the body which will help with improved breathing patterns and health in general. It also helps to release any mental blockages so that we can receive more information from our minds more quickly. By letting go of those things that we do not need, we are better able to be fully aware of what is going on with us and around us. This will help not just with your mental clarity but also with your physical health. When you breathe in, you are releasing the feelings of heaviness that may have been stored in the chest and abdomen. By clearing these areas, you will also provide more space for the energy to flow into other parts of the body where it is needed.

Once you have developed a regular energy meditation practice, or if you are looking for a way to get more out of your meditation practice, you should consider doing an energy meditation right before bed. This will allow you to leave the day behind and start the rest of your life fresh and clear headed. It will also help you to be able to sleep more deeply. This meditation is a wonderful way to start a day off right, or end an evening with a feeling of peacefulness so that you can settle in for a good nights' sleep.

If this sounds like something you want to try, make sure that you take some time in order to prepare yourself for it so that it will be effective and relaxing for you. You may even want to do a regular meditation as part of your preparation before beginning the energy meditation itself.

Conclusion

Pain, in moderation, is a normal part of life that helps us avoid injury or harm to ourselves. It’s a signal that something is wrong and could lead to a much bigger problem if not checked. But what do we do when the pain doesn’t go away? Even if it was self-inflicted? Often, in these cases, the pain isn’t letting up because there’s more work to be done on our mind, body, and soul.

Sometimes it can be tough to keep our heads above water with chronic pain—it keeps us from being able to do the things we enjoy most in life and can leave us feeling isolated.
