 Expect With Confidence

If you're expecting a baby and want to know what moods, cravings, and changes to expect during your pregnancy, this guide will have all the answers you need. From when you will start to feel fetal kicking to the first trimester, and from the second trimester to the third, this article will prepare you for what's ahead.

Here are some of the things you can expect during different stages of your pregnancy:

-First Trimester (0 – 13 weeks)
-Second Trimester (14 – 27 weeks)
-Third Trimester (28+ weeks)

You may experience some or all of these changes: nausea and vomiting, increased appetite among other cravings, achy joints with soreness in muscles and back pain, fatigue. You may have headaches and backaches. You may experience an increase in urine and breast tenderness. Your breasts may swell, and you will experience a change in the shape of your uterus.
Breathing can be difficult as well, so if you feel that you are out of breath more often, consult your physician.
You will experience swelling in the ankles, hands and feet. You may also feel frequent urination: the urge to urinate can range from mild a single time to strong up to 20 times a day!
You will start to see subtle changes in your body, like a diminished or enlarged abdomen. If you have a craving for certain foods, it may be because of what's going on in your body. You may have experienced these cravings even before your pregnancy: once you get on the same page with your doctor about what changes are happening to your body and mind, you can better cope.
You will see the symptoms of many other health issues during pregnancy. Your doctor will help you to address anything that concerns you or that could harm you or the baby .
You will experience some mood swings and anxiety over the changes that are happening in your body as well as the future of this little life growing inside of you.
Drinking more water can help. Make sure you eat enough calories to keep up with your needs.
Exercising can help to relieve stress and ease aches and pains.
However, if you are still feeling tired and have unexplained abdominal ache or back pain, sometimes it's best to go see your doctor as soon as possible.

Here are some facts about pregnancy that I hope will help prepare you for the upcoming months:
1. It's normal for you to experience changes in your body during pregnancy, even if the changes aren't obvious at first.
2. It's normal for you to experience mood changes, from happy and excited to worried that something is wrong.
3. Changes in your body don't always indicate a pregnancy problem...ask your doctor if you're unsure of what is going on with you and your baby.
4. Consistently visit with your doctor to see why you have the symptoms you have had and how they might change during the next few months.
5. There are plenty of natural alternatives to drugs used during pregnancy...that's right, no more shots! Talk with your doctor about what alternative choices may help relieve different symptoms that may arise during pregnancy.
6. It's normal for you to feel pain during pregnancy, and there are a variety of ways to help relieve that pain.
7. It's normal to feel anxiety about the changes in your body (for example, what will happen once you give birth), but there is no need to add more stress.
8. If you do experience any type of pain during your pregnancy, let your caring healthcare professional know so they can help make sure that you are never in any unnecessary or additional pain.
9. It's normal for you to have questions about what your body is going through and what will happen next; it's akin to letting all the excitement build up before telling your family about the news!
10. There are different signs that indicate that you have very little time left in your pregnancy and it will soon be time for your baby to arrive (you can read about these signs below).
11. It's normal for you to have concerns about labor and delivery, but remember that you have a caring healthcare professional by your side who will help make the experience as smooth and pain-free as possible.
12. You may feel very dependent on others when it's time to give birth, but remember no one is more important than the baby!
13. There are plenty of things that you can do to make sure the birth goes smoothly: eating well, getting enough rest, exercising, maybe even walking around a pool or a local park...anything to keep your body in tip-top shape for the big day.
14. It's normal for you to feel nervous about whether you will be a good mother, but remember that everyone has to start somewhere; just make sure that you show your baby love and compassion from the beginning.
15. You may feel hungry during your pregnancy, and food will help to keep in shape. But remember that there is no such thing as too much food and you shouldn't overindulge at any time.
16. Snacks are a great way to avoid boredom and can also boost your energy levels during the day, but remember not to go overboard!
17. Remember that breast milk is one of the best natural sources of nutrition for your baby so try doing anything you can to help you produce enough milk supply for breastfeeding too!
18. It's normal to want to know the sex of your baby during pregnancy, but if you haven't asked your doctor yet, you can always ask them once they are able to find out!
19. If you do go into labor before your due date, don't worry! Labor actually starts when the contractions start, not magically being triggered on a certain day.
