Help Is On The Way: Call In The Thought Police
“There are structural problems in the United States. The distribution of wealth is too extreme and health care is too expensive.”
This is the most common promise of a political campaign—that if you hand over your vote, all your problems will be fixed. And that’s true, to an extent. But we also learned from Plato that “the truly wise man will not allow his mind to be captivated by any objects of pursuit other than those which are good in themselves and contain within themselves their own reward.” And aren’t we just chasing the carrot on a stick? Doesn’t this bolster an economy of entitlement, keeping us in perpetual bondage to our provider?
So what happens when our providers fail us and we lose everything?
We were warned. This is precisely why I’ve traveled around the country to promote my book We Were Warned. I understand that the only thing that really matters is well-being and maximizing happiness. I’ve lived this philosophy for over 30 years, but in the last ten years it’s become increasingly obvious that there is a fundamental shift taking place in our society.
A few examples: We’re being told we have to act on global warming, even though global warming has been going on for millions of years.
