How To Be The Best That You Can Be
Some days you just aren’t feeling yourself. You might feel unmotivated, uninspired or just plain lazy. Whether it’s a bad day at work, the person you love left you, or your best friend is giving you a hard time, negative self talk can be all too common. But it doesn’t have to be this way! There are plenty of things that we as humans can do to stay positive and make the best of even our worst days.
Before you read on, I need to ask you to commit yourself to a little experiment. I want you to open your mind up to a completely new way of thinking about yourself and the world that surrounds you.
I want you to think of the negative self talk that comes from the guilt that you feel because of things that went wrong in your life. Think of all those times with your friends and relatives where they criticized or judged you because of petty mistakes or misdeeds, just because they were hurt or mad at something else.
As you think of those events, shut your eyes and imagine that you no longer feel those negative emotions. Tell yourself to let them go because they don’t have any real meaning for you anymore. They are just a series of random thoughts with no real value. Think of all the difficult things that have happened to you throughout your life as just a series of events which have shaped who you are today.
Think of all the people you’ve met who’ve unwittingly had such a big influence on your life. Maybe they were people who you thought had it all together, who supported you and allowed you to see that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
Maybe they were just people who were kind to you even though they didn’t have to be. Maybe they took time out of their busy lives to share a word of encouragement with you at a time when you needed it most. Look at all those times in your life where something really good has happened because someone else was willing to open up their heart, hand and wallet for you.
Think of all the times in your life when you have thought that there was no way out but still found a way to pull through. Think of all those people who came back into your life at a time when you needed a positive influence, who reached out to help you, who believed in you and in yourself.
Think of the things that have been said to you throughout the years and how they have made an impact on who you are today. Have they shaped how you think about life? Have they taught you what’s important? Have they motivated you? Those words made all the difference in helping someone who was going through some tough times to make it through their darkest hours with as little damage as possible.
If you’ve been doing this exercise, then you know that all the good stuff in your life is the direct result of all the amazing things that have happened to you throughout your life. If it weren’t for all those people and experiences that have helped shape who you are today, then none of the good stuff would be happening. The people who have had such an impact on your life have all been a part of something much bigger than themselves. They’ve always been a part of something much bigger than themselves. Just as every tree casts its shadow in one direction, so does every person in existence cast their own shadow in one direction as well.
So the next time you find yourself feeling down in the dumps, troubled by something that you think someone has done to you, or angry because of unmet expectations, just think of all the things that have gone right in your life. Think of all those times when something good has happened to you purely by chance and not because of anything else. Think of how just one person’s love and kindness has made such a difference in your life.
Just picture all those people who have worked tirelessly to make things happen for you and be thankful that they are a part of your story. You’ve had an impact on their lives too and given them so much extra reason to love life itself. You have not just given them life, you have enriched their lives. You have shown them that there is hope in the world and that one day they will be able to look back on the dark days of their past and know that they overcame all of their challenges with dignity and pride.
You are a pilot of your own destiny. Everything that happens in your life is a direct reflection of your thoughts, emotions and beliefs at the time. Every person who has had an impact on you is someone who has influenced you in some way; by opening up their heart or mind to you or by giving you a valuable lesson.
Even when you have made mistakes in the past and caused others pain, think of how those same people have worked to help you learn from your mistakes. They’ve been a part of your growth and given you the opportunity to become a better person. They may not have always had your best interests at heart, but that was never about them; it was about you.
Think of all the people who have turned their backs on you throughout your life without even giving it a second thought. Think of all the times that someone has hurt you or embarrassed you in front of others because they were jealous or angry. Think of all the times when you’ve felt insecure and judged and how it has really torn you down inside.
Think of all the times when you’ve been given a second chance to make things right, to learn from your mistakes, and to find peace within yourself. Think of all the times when someone has come back into your life to help you through some dark times or just to be there for you when you needed them most.
When we think about our hopeful future, it is only because we are grateful for the positive events that have happened in our life up until now. Without those positive events, we would never have been able to learn how to be grateful for the things in our life now. Without all the negative stuff in our past and present, we wouldn’t know what a blessing it is to be able to do something as simple as just being grateful for what we have now.
The things that are happening in your life aren’t about you; they’re about someone else who has made an impact on your life. When you think of all the good stuff in your life, never take it for granted because that is the real secret of living.
Conclusion
The secret of the Universe lies in letting ourselves be a part of the great tapestry that is all that exists.
Albert Einstein
It’s amazing how something as simple as a thought can change your life forever without even realizing it. It’s not about worrying about what will happen, but rather about being where you are and allowing everything to unfold in that moment. We don’t always know what is going to happen next or what the future holds, but we do know who we are right now and all we have been given is our current state of being.
