## Exercise and weight loss: what motivates someone to lose weight, and how can fitness help with that process?

 - The issue of obesity is one of the most contentious topics related to food in America today. When you look at the numbers, it's easy to see why: 17% of the U.S. population cannot eat all their food, and 35% of people are obese. These statistics are devastating to one's health and quality of life, but what can we do about it? This issue is front and center on today's news, but is there a way to get past the noise? In this article I'm going to focus on weight loss as it relates to exercise and nutrition because I know first-hand that these factors are incredibly important in our battle against obesity.

First, I'll give you a brief overview of the relationship between exercise and weight loss. The basic idea comes down to calories in, calories out: eat fewer calories than you burn, and you will lose weight. It's as simple as that. On the whole, however, people have a hard time sticking to this strategy for very long because calorie counting can be tedious and hard to do accurately, especially if you're trying to maintain a healthy diet at the same time.

Exercise is a particularly effective tool for weight loss because it burns many more calories than individuals realize. On average, the body burns about 10 calories for every pound it carries. That's a lot of food! In practice, however, it is possible to eat enough to cover that number and a person could still gain weight. The key is to burn off more calories than you consume, no matter how many or how few you're eating each day.

Once you're ready to think about how much exercise you're getting each week and what that means in terms of your overall health and fitness level, there are a few things to keep in mind. First of all, if you want the maximum results from your workouts, try focusing on the big muscle groups: shoulders and chest for upper body exercises; backside for lower body workouts. These are the body regions where you can expect to see the biggest change.

Some people think that they have to be a fitness professional in order to get results from their exercise, but people with a decent amount of experience can also get great results in just a few months. As far as how much should you do? It all depends on how good your balance, mobility and flexibility are; if these are good enough for you to safely do cardio exercises such as running, mountain biking and swimming, then that's plenty. The more you work the smaller muscles (which is what those places on your body are) and strengthen them through exercise, the healthier you will be overall.

The relationship between exercise and nutrition is also important. We can easily lose weight by simply exercising, but that means we will still be deficient in the nutrients we need if we don't eat adequately. This means that we must exercise and eat so as to cover all of the nutrient needs we have. The easiest way to accomplish this is to drink a protein shake after your workout an hour or two before eating anything substantial.

## What is the cause of obesity?
## Is there any way to stop obesity?
## What problems can result from being obese?
## Is it possible to be healthy at any weight?
# Obesity is defined as a body mass index ("BMI") of 30 or more, and at least 100 pounds over lean ideal weight for one's height (or approximately 80 pounds over ideal body weight for someone who is 5'4"). BMI is a person's weight divided by their height, so if you are 5'4" and weigh 180 pounds, you have a BMI of 30.

However, BMI is an imperfect measure of obesity because it does not take into account muscle mass or body fat. For example, a person who has a large level of muscle tissue may have a high BMI but low levels of body fat, as well as health benefits from the added muscle mass. A person with no muscle tissue could have low levels of body fat but be classified as "overweight" or "obese" due to their less lean weight and BMI.

## What are the symptoms of obesity?

- Being obese, especially with a BMI over 35, puts you at greater risk of developing diabetes, heart disease, and other weight-related illnesses. Being obese also increases your likelihood of suffering from gall bladder disease, sleep apnea and certain cancers. These are just some of the diseases and illnesses that can result from being overweight.

Obesity is a serious problem that many people still do not fully understand or appreciate. To help counter this problem, people should be more active and eat healthier diets that are conducive to maintaining a healthy weight and lifestyle.

- Obesity is not just a social problem. In fact, it affects billions of lives worldwide each year. It can lead to serious problems such as heart disease, high blood pressure and stroke. If you have ever been obese, you know how difficult it can be to lose weight. That is why it is important to understand the factors that contribute to obesity and the common myths surrounding obesity.

Obesity is caused by an imbalance between calories consumed and calories burned. This means if you consume more calories than you burn in a day, you will gain weight; conversely, if you burn more calories than you consume in a day, the excess will be burned off as heat or converted into energy rather than stored as fat for future use.

Conclusion: There are many causes of obesity, but the most important cause is eating more food than you need.

Obesity is a result of too little exercise, not enough sleep and excessive consumption of unhealthy food. Being overweight isn't just an appearance issue, it actually makes you less healthy by increasing your risk for several chronic conditions.

The most effective way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume on a daily basis so that the excess can be burned off as heat or converted into energy rather than stored as fat for future use. However, if this doesn't work for you, try cutting down on portion sizes and eating lower-calorie foods.
