Relieve Stress With Hypnosis
Sleep better with hypnosis
"Hypnosis is an effective way to reduce the stress and anxiety related symptoms associated with insomnia or chronic insomnia."
- University of Pittsburgh Medical Center
Do you struggle falling asleep especially on work night, or find it hard to relax before your long trip? Hypnosis can help! It's a quick, painless process that can be done in 5-10 minutes.
This article will be a general guide to help you get through the process. It's also a good idea to discuss any concerns or needs you may have with your doctor before proceeding.
We've written articles about insomnia, but many of our customers have asked for a more detailed approach. I hope this helps!
The Science behind our solution
Your brain is where your mind lives and creates the world around you. It keeps you breathing, your heart pumping blood, and much more. It is controlled by a collection of chemicals known as neurotransmitters.
The first neurotransmitter to be discovered is Noradrenaline. This neurotransmitter is responsible for our fight or flight response and your body's natural high. High levels make you feel good, but the downside is that this chemical affects the way your brain works, which can lead to poor decisions and a lack of focus. It also makes you tired due to its effect on sleep hormones (Melatonin and Cortisol).
More recently, the neurotransmitter GABA has been discovered. It is considered an inhibitory neurotransmitter because it slows down nerve activity and can help you relax. Hypnosis may benefit people with insomnia and other sleep disorders by lowering levels of noradrenaline in the brain and increasing levels of GABA.
The good news is that hypnosis can help you achieve this without any side effects. Lucid dreaming for example, uses a similar approach except it relies on conscious effort to achieve similar results.
How does Hypnosis work?
Hypnosis works by using your brain's natural hypnotic abilities. The brain is naturally receptive to suggestions. All you have to do is give it a suggestion, and it will start working toward that suggestion. This is why a common technique to stop smoking is visualizing the cigarette as an ice pop or something else undesirable. If you focus on that image every time you feel like having a cigarette, your mind will take care of the rest.
Relaxation is an essential part of the process.
You must be relaxed to be hypnotized. I recommend getting into bed or sitting on a couch in a comfortable position and clearing your thoughts. Some people like to meditate before hand, others prefer silence, others have no preference at all! Once you have made yourself comfortable, you should go ahead and start reading the article below. Remember to relax and let the words flow over you.
The process
Although each person and situation is unique, the following steps should be followed.
Step 1 - Establish trust (focus your attention on the suggestion and follow the instructions)
It's best to do this as soon as you can in order to establish a baseline. If possible, explain that you're about to be hypnotized and tell your mind what to expect before it starts. This will help you stay more focused throughout the session.
Instructions are given in step 2 below.
Step 2 - Set a goal
Your goal should be as specific as possible. If you are sleeping better, say so. This will help you focus your mind and therefore give better results.
Instructions are given in step 3 below.
Step 3 - Focus on the suggestion
Hypnosis is all about suggestion, so the more you focus, the better it will work. If your mind starts wandering, don't worry about it just get back on track before moving on to the next step below.
Step 4 - Repeat as necessary
You might need to repeat this process a few times. Don't worry about it! Just trust yourself and your subconscious will help you get there. Remember this is for YOU , so take as long as you need to get the result you want.
Step 5 - Optional, but recommended: Aftermath
You don't have to do this, but we recommend thinking of a good night's sleep every time you roll over in bed or feel tired throughout the day. This will help reinforce the process and make the results last even longer.
