If they need so much to feel in control, they will likely feel a little insecure if you take control over their actions. If they are coming from a position of strength and authority, being asked to do something against your will could cause them to feel like you're trying to take away their power.

1.Be A Good Role Model:
No matter how bright, articulate, or well spoken you are, if people don't see your actions match up with your words they will not feel motivated by you. Instead they will feel like they need to take charge of their own lives. People want to be inspired, they aren't looking for someone else to run their lives.
2. Be A Good Teacher:
People learn by doing. If you can teach them how to do something then they will be much more likely to take the necessary steps towards their goals.
3. Understand What Makes Someone Feel Great About Themselves:
If you can make your people feel great about themselves and what they've done, then you will have a workforce that feels motivated by your actions and works with positive energy towards achieving their goals.
4. Make It Easy:
It doesn't matter how complicated your processes are or how complex the project is if it isn't easy for the team to carry out on a day to day basis, they will not do it. They will feel pressured and struggle with the work that you ask them to do.
5. Be A Good Listener:
If you can't listen to what people have to say and determine if there is something that needs changing or if something needs implementing, then you will never know how to motivate them. Without listening, you will never know what your people need from you and how to provide it.
6. Make People Feel Like They are Leading The Charge:
People want to be in charge of their own lives and feel a sense of control in the decisions that they make within their team. If you can give them a sense of control over their own lives and the decisions that they make, then they will likely be motivated to get the job done because it is for the benefit of everyone.
7. Make It Fun:
If you can make what your people do feel fun and exciting, then they will enjoy being part of your team or in approaching their tasks without feeling like it is too overwhelming or difficult.
8. Make Them Feel Like They Are Making A Difference:
If you can make your people feel like they are making a difference in the world, then you will have dedicated employees that work hard towards achieving their goals.
