Self Improvement Motivation: Unlock The Good Life
This article will help you unlock the good life. You’ve always wanted more: More money, friends, food, recognition.
The world has poured it all on your lap and now you want to build a wall around yourself to keep it contained.
You have good intentions, but who can you trust to help you?
You’ve started your own business because it promises financial freedom. While it doesn’t guarantee a fulfilling life, it does give you the opportunity to live your life on YOUR terms. If you do it right, you can go from zero to hero in 6 months.
Bungee jumping is just too dangerous.
It will get better with time and practice. I know. I’ve been there before.
I was very introverted, shy, had no money in the bank and zero experience working in any professional capacity. I had very little social skills, no clue how to dress properly and couldn’t talk to strangers to save my life. I also wasn’t confident in my abilities to take on the adult world, but I did it anyway because I had a burning desire within me that pushed me forward against all odds.
I’ve been there since I was 16.
Here is what you need to know.
1) You won’t ever get rich.
You have to have other things going for you besides money if you want to be happy. Money doesn’t buy happiness and it only dangles the carrot ahead of you in the distance, making you think that if only you get it, then everything will be all right. But money can never solve your problems and is not a cure-all for all ills.
2) You have to be good at what you do.
You will get advice from people about your business, but if you aren’t making money, or employing people, or making a difference in the world with your work and/or products, then who cares what they think? Only people with jobs to offer (like HR guys and recruiters) will want to talk with you anyway.
3) Work hard. Put in the hours.
Everything in this world is a result of work. If you don’t accept that, then you are living in a dream world. Work hard and don’t give up.
4) Don’t start with money just for the sake of starting.
It doesn’t matter how much money you have if it obstructs your ability to make things happen. If you have $10,000 and you work for 3 months on something that only makes you a few dollars, then that money will eventually run out. The more money you have when you jump into the business, the more likely it is to be self-sustaining. If a start up costs $20,000 to become profitable, why would anyone pay it? You won’t get rich quickly, but with enough time and effort you can make it happen.
5) You are your own worst critic.
This is the one that most people don’t realize. You will always think you are doing things wrong. If you start a business and people pay to read your writing and you don’t get paid, it will be because of the writing itself not because of your lack of skill or knowledge.
6) Passion trumps everything else in life.
You must have a burning desire to see your ideas come to fruition or else you will never be able to make them happen.
7) You are the only one who is going to make you happy.
You will have all kinds of people come into your life offering you advice and suggestions, but if your own family or friends aren’t on board with your ideas, then it’s a good idea to stop listening to them and start doing things for YOURSELF.
There will always be someone out there who has more money than you or is more experienced in whatever field you want to work in. If you want to be happy and have a good life, you have to accept that right now and make your own path.
8) The world will not always be kind.
If you don’t have enough money to cover your expenses, then you will never get the chance to create or find an audience for your business. If people won’t give you the time of day or the recognition your deserve because they don’t like your work, then it doesn’t matter how much money you make anyway.
9) You’re in charge.
You have the ability to make things happen. I know this sounds like a cliche, but so many people fail because they don’t believe it themselves.
10) You are not chasing money or making tons of people happy because you are a bad person.
