 Do You Need Others' Approval?

Do you need others' approval?

It's a question that most of us face every day. We have to make decisions out of what to wear, what to eat, if and when we should go on Instagram or Snapchat. Not only just in our lives but also at our job, we hope for approval from our bosses and colleagues. And maybe we're even hoping for their approval on dating apps.

The funny thing about all of this is that we tend to avoid difficult decisions ourselves but we expect other people to approve of them. Examples could be as simple as choosing between a hamburger or a salad, or as big as choosing between staying in a relationship and moving on.

Why do we hold others so responsible for our happiness? We usually blame someone else for our own shortcoming and mistakes. But the truth is, it's not the responsibility of others to make us happy. Others' approval should just be an extra incentive for us to make the right decisions.

When we think about our career and we feel stuck, the first thing that we do is seek for others' approval. We look at what other people do and if they are happy, then it's ok for us to bring it up.

But when we want to go out clubbing, the fact that other people don't go out will make us stay at home. When we want to ask someone out on a date, the fact that other people already had one can make us wait until they are available again. Some things are simply easier to do when others approve of them or hold them in high regard.

Do you feel that other people's approval is necessary for your happiness? If so, the next time you're faced with a decision, try to do it without others' approval first.

Conclusion: Conclusion: The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 1:5 that "God gave the inhabitants of the world over to a reprobate mind, in reprobation. The one who did not believe has been sentenced, and being rebuked, he has come to believe, and has been restored." Also, in Acts 17:30-31 we are told that "The times of ignorance God overlooked but now he commands all people everywhere to repent."
Therefore we can see that [the bible] does indeed teach this theory of Reprobation for which reason alone I commend it to you and you can do with it what you please. - N.A.(c) 2009 Robert H.
