Acting Courses, What You Need To Know!

It’s no secret that not everyone who attends an acting class or film school will become a household name, but it also doesn’t mean they aren't successful. There are a number of famous actors who didn't graduate from drama school.

In this blog post I will discuss my experience and give you the pros and cons of attending university over taking on your classes independently.

Acting Courses: What You Need To Know!
There is no one right way to go about achieving success in the world of acting. There are as many different paths to success as there are working actors.
I’ve been lucky enough to study drama at two different top tier drama schools and learn from working actors and managers in my agency. There is no better education than real world education.
Courses are a great way to get the basics down, learn about your craft and start landing jobs.
However, you need to be aware that some courses are run by teachers who haven’t experienced the “real world” of film/television/stage and therefore may not be able to teach you everything you need to know right away.
The course I took at the National Film and Television School was great. We got to learn from working professionals and they were able to impart their wisdom onto us in a very effective way.
At the same time, a college course isn’t a bad thing if it will complement what you’re doing in your acting career. If you’re studying on set design or performing arts then there really is no need for you to pay thousands of dollars to an acting school.
There are many online courses that can be taken for less than $200 (and sometimes free). Most of my courses were taught by professionals who have experience in the industry, which ensured that I was learning from people who knew what they were talking about.
If you are a working actor or actress and are looking to do your homework then paid courses can be a great way to go. However some classes can be very boring and not actually teach you anything useful.
I know one person who gave a 2 year course because she thought it was ‘cool’ and was quite surprised to find out that it didn’t actually give her any new information.
This is why I would recommend taking classes that are taught by working professionals.
