Nowadays, there are a lot of things that come with spyware, many of which you never even know about. In most cases though, the software is harmless if not outright helpful. This article provides some basic tips and tricks to help keep your computer safe when browsing the web. Whether you already have spyware or just want to avoid it, this guide will teach you how to navigate around online trackers and protect your data from malicious viruses.

If you're a computer novice or someone who's on their phone often- and other potential victims - this is for you! Head over to http://www.bustle.com/articles/1128837-this-guide-for-newbies-on-how-to-protect-yourself-from-cybersecurity and learn the ins and outs of how you can protect yourself from cyber threats.

Some of the things I covered in this article - using online security tools to fight back, safe browsing settings, and how to keep your phone safe - are things I normally talk about throughout my website on Bustle. However, I felt that sometimes it's important to take a step back and really look at the big picture when it comes to cybersecurity.

I would also like to thank my mom, who is only a few years from being a senior citizen, for letting me know how high-risk some of these threats can be for older users. I normally think that  the best advice is to wait until you're an adult, but this article introduced me to some things I never knew about.

I know it's probably hard to take in information sometimes and I want to really stress how important it is to use these tips as well as your common sense and good judgement. As always, if you have any questions about anything I talk about on my website or this article, please leave a comment below and ask them! Also, if you have any topics you'd like me to write about, let me know! Happy reading!

When I read the title of this article, "Safer Internet for Newbies," and saw that it was about cybersecurity for newbies, I thought I couldn't be in a better place to write about it.
I'm a newbie when it comes to technology. When I got my first computer, I was barely 16 years old, and while some teens are getting ready to graduate college when they're still in high school, I'm leaving mine to find myself among the social media savvy adults.
I was lucky enough to have someone in my life who is incredibly technologically savvy. He would just show me the basics of using a computer and I would memorize them and try to use them like him. Even though he wasn't trained in computers, he helped me learn the basics of everything (which is why I'm writing this! lol) until I got a more advanced Mac, which has provided me with all that I need to know to become a decent computer user.
There are several things that I learned after becoming more familiar with computers, and one of them has been the importance of Internet security. It has changed drastically since the first time I viewed my web browser.
Before, I would be able to just click on a webpage and see what it was and if there were any ads or pop-ups that popped up. Now, however, there is a whole wealth of information about how I can keep myself protected from harmful websites and viruses.
The title basically sums up how important security on the Internet is for everyone, but especially for those new to the world of computers.
I learned about this topic through the many articles I follow on social media, but I also learned about it through my own research.
I found out that cyberbullying is a serious issue with nearly 40% of American teens experiencing it at least once. What do you think would happen if teens were constantly being bullied because of their computer usage? What if they weren't allowed to use the Internet at all?
I consider myself lucky to have never experienced cyberensecurity before, since there is no way I would be able to deal with it.
It is proven that keeping the Internet clean of viruses and dangerous malware is essential for making our computers and phones safe and secure.
The main reason I decided to write about this topic is because I want to help my readers become better, more responsible Internet users... the way that I am now.
It has been a little over one year since my first article and I have become much more aware of the importance of protecting myself, as well as helping other people all around me do the same.
I've been reading a lot of articles lately that have been telling me that if you've never had virus protection before and you suddenly get it installed, you should know what is going on.
Many viruses and malware can actually install themselves without your knowledge or permission - something that could possibly be devastating for your computer.
I've personally never had any infections on my computer before, but that doesn't mean that I don't care about who gets them.
One of the best things you can do to stay safe is to talk with your friends and family and make sure that they are doing the same.
However, even if you have been using a computer for a long time, this article will provide you with lots of useful information about keeping your computer secure and running at optimal speed.

Conclusion

If you have not made the switch to a new laptop or smartphone yet, please do so. You will be doing yourself a huge favor if you get one that has excellent security software. In today's world of online banking, e-commerce shopping, and mobile banking you need to be very careful about what you are doing with your computer. There are countless opportunities for someone to penetrate your inner circle and insecurities from the past or present and if this happens it could mean the end of your online earnings and or personal information. Be very sure to use an antivirus tool when checking for updates and do not ever share photos or personal information that is not necessary.
