Career Talk: A Day In The Life Of A Lawyer
A Day In The Life Of A Lawyer
"Sometimes, I feel like I'm the only one who knows what I do," says Delaney. "And it's not because everyone hates it, but just that they don't really understand what goes into it." So we asked her to break down a day in her life. From the time she wakes up until she goes to bed (this is a typical day), let's see what exactly Delaney does in this vocation that more people may be interested in: http://narrowbyjob.com/job_templates/resume_templates/lawyer.html

I've known about this scam for a while & usually avoid sending resumes , but I got caught up in this one... I.e. Had I known the email address was ncjonesatty@gmail.com, I would have been more cautious... I applied for a job & the email stated that they wanted me to send them a letter of introduction . . . so, after receiving the letter, they wanted to speak over phone... by this time it was clear that "ncjones" had an Accent (not American or British) & so I became leary... it's not just about scams, but also about anti-Americanism, that you should be aware of Reply Delete
Their scam is working because people like you who don't want to work think they will get money without working. Reply Delete
I have been contacted by this law firm. I had not heard of it prior to this. They sent me their information and then followed up by asking for information from me. I did not fall for their scam and do not plan on applying for the position. They may or maynot actually be lawyers but they do not seem to be legitimate in my opinion. Reply Delete
Anyone else just receive an email saying they received your resume and they really like it? We're looking forward on talking to you in the near future.. we want you to know that we're very serious on hiring you as our employment attorney...I just want to make sure you've received this email and reply as soon as possible so I can get back to you with further details.. just take your time to read over my resume and let me know as soon as possible...thanks Reply Delete
I'm getting a ton of emails from ncjonespllc@gmail.com, but I don't believe it is a law office. The email claims the job consists of assisting in the settlement of the clients' cases for money. Sounds like either a scam or a bad way for someone to look for money. Reply Delete
I just got mine too, and it was exactly the same thing...looks like a scam to me. Also, I recieved an email from that same address telling me to print out an application and bring it in for an interview. I doubt that anyone from NC Jones & Associates followed up on the application. Reply Delete
I too have been contacted via email regarding a career opportunity at "NC Jones & Associates." The fact that they have the same exact name as a well known North Carolina lawyer is a little fishy... but then again, my name happens to be Ryan Thomas Jones as well - hahaha! They seem very eager to speak with me over the phone re: employment opportunities, however, I've yet to respond. Reply Delete
I have been contacted by this firm. They have not reached out to me for an interview, but I was wondering if you have any information about whether or not this is a scam. Reply Delete
I applied for a job over the internet using my info and didnt realize it was through them until i started recieving these emails asking me to email them back. Did anyone ever apply for one of their positions? Reply Delete
This same people contacted me by email as well from the same law firm. I am aware of these people and there scam. I have not replied to them, deleted their email and blocked the person from emailing me further. Reply Delete
I received an update from ncjonespllc@gmail.com that they are looking forward on having a talk with me before April ends. Can someone please tell me if anyone else got this email? Reply Delete
Contacted by mail...asking for money!!! When checking out their FB page, it seems to be one big joke with no actual posts! Beware!! http://www.nclawjonesandassociates.com/ http://www.facebook.com/ncjonesandassociates http://www.facebook.com/pages/NC-Jones-Associates-LLC/122636871185920 http://www.linkedin.com/company/2707892?trk=top_nav_home Reply Delete
Guys, I heard of this scam last month when my friend applied to a job posted at Monster and his application was forwarded to NCJ&A by mistake. Fortunately, he wasn't stupid enough to send them any money, but he forwarded me their email and I have to admit it was very convincing (they didn't ask for any money even though their website required case fees). The first email was the usual "nice resume" blah blah, and then they asked him to send a cover letter. Then, my friend emailed back to ask if they want a work experience or educational background first (that's when it became very convincing). Here's the exact email chain: Hello, I saw your resume on Monster, and it appeals to me. I would like to know whether you prefer full time or part time employment? While I would love for you to receive this job offer, we have some very strict rules that must be adhered to. To begin with, we have a $400 fee for employment processing. This does not include any other fees that you may incur for processing your claims. If you are interested in the position, please send your resume, cover letter, and a copy of your Certificate of Good Standing from the State Bar to the following email: ncjonespllc@gmail.com Note that we do not accept applications via fax or third parties. Your prompt attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. Looking forward to hearing from you, Nelson Jones Reply: Hello Nelson! Thank you so much for taking time to review my resume and consider me for employment with your office. I am very interested in this opportunity and would be glad to pay your $400 application fee if it is a necessary requirement of the position I applied for.
Conclusion: This is a very convincing email, and those who are fooled will respond immediately and send money. Don't be one of them! Reply Delete
I received the same email from Nelson Jones (not a typo) regarding job opportunity with NCJ&A. I would love to have learned more about NCJ&A's practices and procedures, because this is not the first time I heard of some odd jobs offered by courts in North Carolina by companies that use names that are quite similar to well known law office practice names. It could be a scam, it could be just lawyers with little or no experience in their genuinely practiced areas of expertise wanting to test their marketing skills on the public, it could be legit, but I'm not sure yet.
