 Do Link Directories Work

We all know the importance of link directories in getting your website found online, but are they really worth it? Link directories offer a convenience, but for some bloggers and publishers, providing excellent content is more important. This blog post will discuss the pros and cons of using link directories.

The best thing about link directories is that you have hundreds or thousands of options to choose from (depending on who you ask!) It can be overwhelming to find one that will provide a good user experience while also keeping your website relevant. With this in mind, I chose 10 websites to see how they fared against each other when optimizing their site for both users and search engines. Here's what I discovered...

- The only link directory I have used, and that I have always liked. If you need a high quality directory with tons to choose from, this is it. However, if you're looking for links on specific topics such as videos or music then I would suggest against it as the content is not relevant to what the consumer wants. That said, I am happy with the search presence of my directory and while there is competition due to other directories, they are more expensive and not targeted towards similar results which can sometimes hurt publishers.
- I really like the look of Thisistheway.com, but it's not as easy to navigate and review like other directories. Also, I didn't know that you could also purchase links if you needed them in a hurry when I was getting started with my directory (which is why I would not recommend buying links through this directory).
- One of my favorite link directories, a great mix of quality and price options and the user interface is really intuitive. The staff at Whitehat or blackhatare can be reached easily via phone or email if you have any questions about setting up your account or trying to find information on finding new sites in your niche - something that cannot be said for some other directories.
- One of the best in the industry, although I initially did not have high hopes for this directory due to the price. They provide a great amount of content and the quality is high. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for quality links if you are able to afford it.
- While I felt like this website fulfilled its purpose, there were many reasons why I didn't think it was a good fit for my site. First of all, they did not provide much value in terms of domain authority or traffic stats to help me choose which links would be good and which wouldn't be worth purchasing. The search options were also very limited, you could only choose between "popular," "new" and "random." Once I started reviewing the links they offered I was disappointed because there were links that pointed back to sites that looked spammy or had nothing to do with a directory. Links have directories themselves, but these links didn't point there. In addition, the directory is quite pricey currently and I would have had to pay more money for a higher quality link. Overall, it's one of the better directories on this list, but it has its flaws.
- This website offers great reliability in terms of both service and site design. It's fairly easy to navigate, the staff is very responsive to questions and the pricing options are very reasonable. There is a good mix of content, but I would recommend against using this directory if you are looking for a specific topic such as videos or music. Because of that, it takes longer to find high quality links in your niche that would draw consumers in.
- This directory was one of the earliest ones I tried out and unfortunately the links they offer based on keyword search did not help me at all because they didn't meet my needs or provide enough value for my site. However, they offer some amazing seo services to help with your presence and these are something I would definitely use if I had the need.
- This directory is a lot more expensive than what you pay for, but it's not bad. I would recommend it if you want to get use out of the articles section for finding new content based on topics that users are searching for. They also offer a guide to setting up link building campaigns which can be very useful if you are just getting started in the field of seo or link building.
- This site was not optimized well at all for affiliates which is why I wouldn't recommend it for this blog. In addition, the links they offer seem to be stale and not worth using.
- This website is great for a lot of reasons - it has a ton of content, you can sort through the top sites based on quality and topic, they offer high quality links based on quality as well - however, they have been pretty inconsistent in terms of customer service and updating the website with new ways to find links. They also have a lot of spammy sites listed in their directory which I didn't like at all. It's one of the best link directories you can find but if you're looking for something more specific then this site will not be for you.
- This website has a lot of flaws. I found it to be very expensive, the salespeople were not very friendly, they do not offer much domain authority or traffic stats and the links they offer based on keyword search did not help me find anything at all.
- A great website for finding high quality sites that are relevant to your niche, then you can use these to build up your own directory by reviewing them in your site and posting them on other directories. It's basically a directory of directories which helps if you want to find an audience for one of yours - or you can use this site as a source for finding new content on an ongoing basis.
- One of the best sites for finding high quality links in your niche, the site has a great amount of content and the staff is very helpful. You can also sort through sites by traffic and rank, or you can sort by other metrics such as backlinks, on-page metrics or social media mentions.
- A great site and if you're looking to build up a directory then this could be a good option for you. They offer many different services to help out with building a directory and they have reasonable pricing options. They have forums where community members can help each other out which is a great feature if you browse it frequently and want to ask questions about getting started with linking or other things similar to that.
- One of the better options for domains out there if you're willing to pay a little more for a quality link. They have a lot of options based on quality which is amazing. In comparison to other sites out there however, I found that this site did not offer as much value in terms of domain authority or traffic stats.
- This directory has great links, but the only problem with it is that you can't search by topic. You can only search by domain name and it doesn't have any sort of filtering system so you end up going through hundreds of irrelevant sites just to find one that will draw your audience in.

Conclusion
In conclusion, I hope this guide gave you a better understanding of what link directories are and sorted through some of the spam to find link building opportunities that provide value. However, I didn't include all of the directories out there because a lot of them have similar features and they really don't offer much value in terms of traffic or domain authority, but if you have the skills to control your niche then these directories can work well in your favor.
- Though I listed several popular directory and review sites, there are many more out there.
