Educational Breaking Grounds
What do you do when your child has fallen well behind their peers?
How would you feel if they got a C on the latest quiz?
Do you think it’s worth pushing them to try again or just let them drop out and never graduate from high school?
As parents, we all want our kids to grow up as happy, healthy adults. But that isn’t always possible. And we don't have to settle for just getting by. There is an alternative! Introducing Educational Breaking Grounds! The only comprehensive program that combines educational therapy with traditional curriculum in a way that not only makes sense but also helps the entire student be more successful in life.
Educational Breaking Grounds is an entirely new approach to education that addresses the gaps between academic standards and curriculum. Our students learn, not only how to write a paper or do a math problem, but how to apply the material throughout life in their everyday lives. Graduates are more prepared for college than ever before and get high school diplomas. Because of our programs students actually graduate from high school at almost 100% rate (See our Success Rate)
Educational Breaking Grounds is proven effective as shown by multiple studies and advocacy in schools across America such as (1) A study in Florida by Florida University: Educational Breakthroughs, Inc. and their Impact on the Academic Achievement of At-Risk Youths. The findings show that EBG students benefited from a four-point gain in reading and a five-point gain in mathematics on the high stakes Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test. (2) Multiple studies by The Institute for College Access and Success showed graduation rates of almost 100%! And it doesn’t just stop there!

Educational Breaking Grounds was founded in 2013 by Thomas F. Lilienfeld, a child psychologist and clinical professor at Emory University, Atlanta, GA. He invented the unique approach of combining educational therapy with traditional curriculum called Educational Breaking Grounds.
Thomas's father, Dr. Richard Lilienfeld, is the founder of Breaking Grounds Learning Center and has been the leader of this program since its inception. He is a licensed clinical psychologist in Atlanta, Georgia, a life coach and an expert educator in the field of alternative education.
Educational Breaking Grounds programs have been run as an alternative to traditional public schools in New Jersey, Florida, and Brazil. Now, Thomas has continued his father's work by creating Educational Breaking Grounds in New Zealand. In addition to these programs Thomas also founded The National Association for Educational Breakthroughs which promotes long-term research into the effectiveness of the EBG clinics around the world.
Educational Breaking Grounds was featured on Good Morning America as a result of its success in N.J. schools, and also in The Wall Street Journal, Good Housekeeping Magazine, Parents Magazine, Daily Mail Online, CBS News and many other media outlets. See the press release for details.

The program has seen many students come and go over several years and each student is unique in their own way. Below are three examples of students who have graduated from the program.
The EBG program takes a holistic and non-traditional approach to education, i.e. it focuses not just on academia but also personal awareness, nutrition and social skills that are required to become a successful and healthy adult.
Students are taught from a young age the importance of fitness: regular exercise is required for their physical health and thus better concentration, performance in class and future career prospects. In addition, students learn how to cook their own meals so they can eat properly balanced nutritious meals at home or at work in life after school ends.
The EBG program also focuses on mental health. Students are taught how to cope with stress and anxiety in order to achieve better self-awareness, self-control and overall well being. They are also taught critical thinking and problem solving techniques to have a better understanding of the world around them.
Educational Breaking Ground's programs offer students the opportunity to learn conversational English while they are enrolled in the program rather than after they have graduated as is the case with many traditional schooling systems. Therefore, our students will be more prepared for college and career opportunities upon graduation from high school than ever before in history of public schooling systems.
As of January 2010, Educational Breaking Grounds has over 30 locations worldwide. Clients include first and/or second grade students through college age adults in New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina, and the United States. EBG's method of education addresses the gaps between traditional academic standards and curriculum. Our programs are driven by the goal of educating our students to attain a truly global understanding of what it means to be a human being in order to be prepared for life after high school.
Educational Breakthroughs, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in Florida. The organization's mission is to provide free counseling, and educational, fun and interactive programs in schools, prisons, detention centers and halfway houses.
The purpose of Educational Breaking Grounds is to help students achieve their potential while keeping the school budget intact. Because our program operates at a fraction of the cost of traditional programs, we keep our clients' per pupil costs down. So far this has saved communities millions of dollars in operating costs.
