Fired Before You’re Hired: Five Ways to Ruin Any Interview
We have all been there. You are sitting in the hot seat, sweating bullets, and answering questions like “what is your biggest weakness?” or “why should we hire you?" But it doesn't take much for an interview to go south. Here are five ways to ruin any interview.
1) Arrive late for the interview, or not at all: Let's start with the basics - if you don't show up on time (or at all), how can they know you're a hard worker? That's right, they can't!
2) Have a poor attitude: Sure, you may want the job but that doesn't mean that everything about it will be perfect. Don't take it personally.
3) Bring a co-worker or friend on the interview: This will only make them nervous and can lead to an awkward situation for both of you. It's bad for your candidate and bad for the company that hired you.
4) Ask to bring in some of your work: Sure, you've done great work for other employers, but that doesn't mean that your current boss is going to love it. Besides, chances are they'll have their own reasons why they don't want to see it.
5) Wear sweat pants: This is a no brainer. Even if you are interviewing for a professorial position, dress up. It makes you look at least a little interested.

So the next time you head into an interview, remember to be yourself and not someone else! Show your true colors - they might just be what your future employer is looking for.

I know that I often come across as uninspired or indifferent but it's an act...well maybe not so much now as before November of 2016 when the Huffington Post attempted to slander me and when I sued them over it . It can be difficult to remain calm when being falsely accused and I have had to learn to compensate by always being alert of what's in my peripheral vision.
What is happening now is an unprecedented attempt at character assassination and cannot be ignored. Through this article, a forum that is primarily known for promoting scientific atheism and the more extreme ends of social justice, the Huffington Post has shown their true stripes. The recent article entitled, "5 Ways To Ruin A Job Interview" does not promote science or atheism but rather promotes socialism and hatred as evidenced by the following quote:
The author claims that everything is just hunky dory at the workplace today because everyone is being paid equally and everyone shares equally in the wealth (which they define as money). He states that the idea of progress and freedom has been positively furthered by all of the social justice movements across the world. Despite claiming to promote scientific atheism, he blatantly ignores science, mathematics, biology and all other branches of knowledge in favor of pushing social justice as a central theme. He states that money is not important because everyone is equal in most cases and we are all just satisfied with our monetary value (which he again defines as money).
This disgusting article is nothing more than a thinly veiled attack on everybody who believes in capitalistic concepts such as individual responsibility, wealth creation and hard work. It is nothing short of a direct attack on the business owners and white collar workers who are responsible for much of America's prosperity. While the article claims to promote atheism (rather than just attacking organized religion), it also promotes wealth sharing, socialism and communism as a viable alternative to capitalism.
One of the worst things about this infestation of social justice is that it's not being done for any real purpose other than to undermine confidence in our society - to work against our own best interest. In fact, when those with more money and power are forced to share their wealth with others who have neither, those who work hard will suffer greatly because the individuals who should be creating jobs will instead be prevented from doing so. The people who should be creating jobs and growing the American economy will instead be forced to share their money with others and will be unable to hire any others. And when this happens, everyone will suffer because the trickle down effect of wealth sharing does not work.
The authors of this article and their allies have become increasingly desperate because they know that the future is not in their favor. As hard as they may try to push it, social justice is a dead end for both them and the rest of humanity. Capitalism is a tried, tested and true concept that works to benefit each individual no matter what their circumstances are. We need only look at history to realize that each time we move toward socialism, we suffer greatly as a society. And when we move toward communism, we all suffer greatly. There is nothing new or exciting about what these people are trying to push, and I will always be here to work against it as much as possible.
Back when I worked at the drug store, there were times when I was drenched in sweat while working on the store's busiest days. Those hot summer days were some of the worst but I never complained. The idea that a company would hire me and then make me work in 85 degree heat with no AC is absolutely absurd! That's why it was so important for us to keep things clean and orderly. It wasn't just because they told us to - it was because we realized that our customers deserved better from us. It was because we wanted to be good employees and wanted to do what was best.
Although I do not encourage laziness, I do believe that there are times when it is best to cut your losses and move on. This can be especially true when you are working for the wrong company . Until business leaders realize that it is better to treat their employees well than it is to stuff their pockets with money, there will always be people who treat their employees poorly. It is only when both parties realize that they truly have a symbiotic relationship with each other that things will begin to improve - but this isn't happening right now because most companies are focused on making a quick buck.
Even when we were working at the drug store, my coworkers and I would often be treated poorly by those above us. We weren't always treated well but we still kept our cool and did our best to work around the problems that were in place. The manager at this particular store was known for being extremely rude to his employees so I guess it wasn't surprising that he treated us poorly.
In my experience, it seems that some people will treat you poorly as long as you let them. I don't understand why some people feel entitled to treat others poorly when there is nothing in place to give them this right. Being a manager does not give someone the right to act out against his employees - it simply means that he is now responsible for them.
I remember when I worked at Best Buy years ago as a teenager, I had to put up with an extremely low wage and rude coworkers. As much as I would have loved to quit at that point in my life, I had to work until things got better for me. Still, there were times when my friends would go out on a Friday night and have a good time while I had to sit in the back room at Best Buy. So yes, there were moments when it was hard for me too.
Conclusion
The world has always been a difficult place. We've had countless wars, famines and genocides during the course of human history. And it wasn't exactly surprising that we would have a lot of political and social conflicts during our time on Earth. But what is a little bit surprising is when we allow these conflicts to escalate out of control by uniting against others instead of coming together as brothers and sisters to debate our differences. It seems that with every conflict, we are drifting further and further away from true equality. The only way things will ever improve is when each person realizes that they all have the same goals in mind - to live in a peaceful world with great prosperity for all individuals no matter what their situation might be.
