Getting Into Your Desired Job Position

Getting Into Your Desired Job Position

We all know the feeling of wanting and striving for a certain position. You might be wondering how to get into your desired profession, but have no idea where to start. Well, look no further! This article will guide you through steps that will help you achieve your goal.

Step 1: Know your stuff
Although this may seem like a silly thing to say, it really is quite important. You can't know where you want to go if you don't know where you are at the moment. Take some time (several hours if you want!) and think about what it is that you want. For example, does your CV need work? Or perhaps there is a skill of yours that could do with being developed further? Take into consideration any skills or qualifications that you might want to take or achieve in the future. Consider what your strengths are and how they can be of benefit to the job/company that you want. By the end of this process, you should have a clear idea of what it is that you will be aiming for. Make sure to add all of your achievements, skills and qualifications that you have to your CV, as these are all things that a potential employer will want to know about you.

Step 2: Get Acquainted with Your Target Company
Next, it is important to make yourself familiar with the company and the work that they do. This way, you will be able to find out whether or not YOU want them! The best way to go about this is by making sure that you read their website thoroughly and look at their products or services; if possible go ahead and find out what job positions are currently available. By searching their websites, you will also be able to find out whether or not they are looking for someone with your qualifications. This is a great way to get a feel for the company and see if you would like to work there.

Step 3: Network
Now that the two of you have at least one thing in common, it is time to start networking! The next step of this process will be finding out who in the company you can talk to in relation to getting a job - this could be either through phone calls or face-to-face meetings (depending on where you want to get a job). When you do finally get hold of the person, tell them that you have passion for their company and ask them if they would be able to work together in the future. Also, ask them what kind of skills are going to be required for the job that you would like to apply for. That way, you will be able to show that you have what it takes by talking about your achievements and qualifications that are relevant to the job. If this goes well, then things should start rolling and before long you shall receive a call from an employer!

Step 4: Apply!
Now comes the fun part - applying for the job! The best way to go about doing this is by making sure that your application is perfect. Make sure to have all of your qualifications and achievements ready. Take some time to go through the job description and make sure that this suits you. If it doesn't, then they might not be the right employer for you. Just because one job is advertised, it doesn't mean that other positions won't be opening up in the future! Make sure to keep checking back on a regular basis so that you don't miss out on any opportunities!

Step 5: Receive Your Offer!
Once your application has been received and reviewed, then you should receive a call from someone who will offer you a position within their company. Congratulations! However, you must remember to thank them for offering you the position and make sure that you mention that you are really enthusiastic about the company. It is important to show that you really want to work for them and want to be there, as this shows a lot about your character.

Step 6: Negotiate!
Now, it is time to negotiate. If there was a job offer made then you may receive a call from an employer telling you that they will be willing to let you have the job - well done! They will probably start off by telling you how much they think pay should be, so make sure to counter with what YOU think it should be. The employer may not be happy with that, so it is up to you to negotiate. Keep your head held high and don't give in! Remember, if you aren't willing to fight for yourself then no one else will. In order for them to keep a good employee, they will probably have to go over what they first offered. So if that is the case, then get ready for your dream job!

Step 7: Receiving The Job Offer
By now, you should have everything sorted out and be ready to start working in the company that you want. Congratulations! It is time for you to start being an employee and making the most of it! Be sure to take all opportunities that come your way, as they will definitely come in handy later on!

Quick Tip: I found it useful to use a website such as LinkedIn when I was going through this process. It may take a little longer than looking through the company's website, but it is definitely worth the extra effort.

You can also find job postings online by choosing "search" in the top left corner and entering in keywords such as your chosen industry and job title.

I highly recommend trying this process out! It can be a lot of fun, especially if you like to get competitive with others or develop new skills or qualifications.

Conclusion

So, this process can seem a little daunting at first. However, I hope that this article has helped you get some clarity. The most important thing is to follow this advice and don't be too concerned about the time it takes. It will always pay off in the end!
