Google Adsense: Computer Knowledge and Direct Deposit

Google Adsense: Computer Knowledge and Direct Deposit
Google Adsense is an advertising program you can use to promote your website or blog. In exchange for placing ads on your site, the company pays you based on how many people see and click on those ads. You place Google's ad code in each post (or banner) you make, which the user will then see when reading the content. The goal of Google Adsense is to get as many clicks from users as possible. It's also a great way to teach students about computer knowledge and job skills! Since my students usually have other jobs outside of school that don't pay much, I looked for ways to supplement their income without having to change their focus away from education. Google Adsense was the answer!

This program has been around since 2003, and they have over 200 million active users. Google Adsense is so successful that the company's revenue grew to $10.7 billion in the third quarter of 2011, an increase of 19 percent from 2010! In academic year 2010-2011, Google Adsense had over 2 million active publisher accounts and paid publishers over $1 billion. Just like you can use your blog for publishing articles for peer-reviewed journals or even your university as a teaching assistant (T/A), you can post Google Adsense ads on your site. I've teamed up with Google Adsense to help all students learn about computer knowledge and direct deposit. If you're interested in getting paid for blogging and helping students, please keep reading…

I'm sure you're thinking, "Why would a company give me money to blog or post ads on my website?" This company knows that many teachers use their free time to publish articles or research on topics they are passionate about. I'm sure they didn't expect that many educators would apply for Google Adsense when they first started this program, but they are certainly happy now! The fact is, many of us bloggers publish free content every day. We do it as a hobby or through our day jobs as T/As. Since we are writing interesting content, and we're not being paid for our services, we can use Google Adsense to earn income when someone clicks on an ad. You'll be amazed at how many students and teachers visit your blogging website or how many people are reading your publications! Before you start asking questions about the program, here's a brief overview of the details.

Getting Started

The first step is to open an account with Google Adsense. Simply click the following link to get started: Open an Account . This is where you will create a login name and password. You'll need these credentials each time you log in to view or change your account information. You will also need to create a new Gmail account if you do not have one already. You will receive an email with a confirmation link, which you can click in order to begin the account setup process.

The next step is to enable ads on your blog or website. Go to Account Settings > Change Account Options (if you haven't set up your account yet, it will be grayed out). This is where you'll make all the tweaks that are needed for Google Adsense. It's also where you'll create your Code for the Ads and for the Analytics Tracking code. The Ad Code goes at the bottom of your page, followed by one space. This should look like this:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.google.com/adsense/search_enabled"> </script>

The Analytics Tracking code is at the top of your page followed by a single space:

<script type="text/javascript"> google_ad_client = "ca-pub-3914337179924062"; google_ad_type = "text"; google_ad_channel = "manual"; // Replace with your Google Adsense ID // To learn more about why you might want to use one or two numbers, read this article: // http://support.google.com/adsense/answer/292274?hl=en </script>

Once you've made these changes, leave the page open and go back to your Adsense account. It will show you a green "Signed In to Adsense" button in the top right corner of your screen. Click it, and you'll be logged in to your account. You're ready to start earning some money!

Before we begin, I want to mention that you won't be editing any of the ads or ads codes on my blog. If you would like our ads to appear on your site, please let me know and I can provide you with anything you need. I use the Blogspot ad system, which I get you to install on your blog. However, if you'd like to use Google Adsense, you can go ahead and let me know. When it's time for you to set up advertising on your blog, I'll have a tutorial section of the blog that explains how it works.

Google Adsense offers three different ad packages: Basic, Standard, or Enhanced. Basic is cheapest, but allows for fewer ads compared to the other two packages. There is no limit on how many ads can appear in a post or even a page. You simply post a code at the end of each post or page. You can also use the same code for multiple posts. Just copy and paste the code from one post to another by using the "Edit Post" button in Blogger or by using CTRL+C, CTRL+V in WordPress. Students and teachers often ask me, "How many ads can I place on my site?" My answer is, "As many as you want!" The only limitations are that you can only place ads four times per page and 500 ads per day. That's it! No website or blog can take up more than that amount of space. The amount of money you'll earn will depend on how many people click on your ads, and it is entirely up to you to determine the best way to get traffic to your website. You get paid per click (CPC) or cost per mille (CPM). CPC is for web ads, and CPM is for search engine ads. Clicks are when someone lands on your site from an ad (the last step before they see the content they want). If you want to make money with Google Adsense, I highly recommend you consider the Standard Ad Package.

Conclusion

I hope that you found this information helpful and that you have decided to make some money with Google Adsense. If you decide to use the service yourself, I'll be happy to answer any questions you have and help you get your ads set up. Please feel free to ask me anything you'd like: what are the best ads for my uploading speed, how much do I need to pay each month, or if I can buy an entire package of ads (with back links), etc. This company offers a 14-day 100% guarantee on all ads placed .
