How To Convince Your Boss To Telecommute
The workplace has changed in recent decades. Reduced hours and geographic distances have resulted in a shift towards more remote work. So, if you want to telecommute, how do you convince your boss it's a good idea?
First of all, be clear on what kind of work you're asking to telecommute with — are you looking for an exception to company policy, or just hoping for the occasional Friday off? You also need to plan out what it will look like: does your boss need reports or files from home? Will this require some sort of exception or plan from HR? How much notice are we talking about here? Be as detailed as possible so that there won't be any confusion later on.
Secondly, you need to clearly communicate why telecommuting is a good idea, in order to get the company buy-in. Your boss needs to know the potential benefits of telecommuting, and be willing to support it. Explain that a healthy work-life balance is necessary for both your happiness and your job performance; that you'd like to spend more time with your family or working on personal projects; that you'd like more flexibility in where and when you work; that it will be less stressful for employees with children or elderly parents who may need care; or anything else that sounds legitimate and reasonable.
And finally, be sure to explain how telecommuting benefits the company. Explain that increased employee satisfaction means increased productivity, which is good for your company, because it makes you more money. Also talk about how it will save on office space and operating costs. Talk about how employee morale increases when people are happier at work. Talk about the costs of turnover and absenteeism, as well as health insurance and other benefits.
Explain how allowing employees to telecommute could create a better working environment for everyone. Don't downplay the benefits of not having to travel to and from the office, or be unnecessarily negative about the drawbacks of telecommuting. If your boss is convinced, there's no reason for you to fight it.

I was pretty lucky to score free gear :) But now that I'm back home I can't find a job and I am going broke fast... I am a college graduate, I got an accounting degree and now I cannot find a job anywhere.
The only thing I can find are fast food jobs that pay minimum wage in my area.
I don't want to do that for the rest of my life, I really enjoyed working as a content creator and I really want to do that again! But in order for me to start saving up some money from doing something like that - I need to have an income coming in.
My plan is to travel this summer (2015) until late August until our next television season starts up again. Then, instead of traveling the winter season, I will try to get into school for graphic design or filmaking...
Conclusion
Well, hope this helps people in a way. I am very happy with the results of my business on Airbnb! But when I'm not traveling I still manage to make money from posting pictures of my apartment for rent on Airbnb, and several side businesses like making and selling greeting cards out of my bedroom.
There is so much to be said, but I would like to say that in the next few years you should travel. When you are traveling, you are living your life on the road :) So do it if you haven't already...
