 How to Create a Nice Working Atmosphere


The most important part of any work day is the working atmosphere. Whether you're a remote worker or in office all day, your working environment will either help or deter productivity and concentration. If you're looking for some tips to create a fun, healthy and productive environment in your workplace, read on!

Many small changes can have an enormous impact on how we feel when we're at work - whether it's waking up early to take care of yourself first thing in the morning with breakfast, packing snacks to make sure you don't get hungry during the day or even just listening to a podcast while working out. These things are simple but go a long way toward making us more excited about coming into work.

Forget the big 3 meals, they do more harm than good. Studies have shown that eating breakfast gives you an energy boost and helps you stay focused and alert during the day – but have a protein based breakfast (such as eggs) rather than a carb heavy meal (such as cereal or toast). Eggs are also a great source of vitamins, minerals and omega-3 fatty acids which are essential for brain health. A veggie omelette or spinach frittata are both great options for breakfast. Don't be afraid to get creative with these meals too – loads of blogs offer amazing week day recipes which can help kick start your morning.

Get your body moving

Research is telling us more and more about the positive effects of exercise on mental health, especially depression. Getting your body moving before work can help boost your energy and get you in the right mindset for a productive day. Exercise not only boosts your brain power – but it's also better than coffee for raising metabolic rate and releasing endorphins. And that's what you need to get out of bed in the morning! To avoid burnout, make sure you're not exercising at night – if you must fit it into your schedule, do it early morning when you're fresh and ready to go! If you have time, research has also shown that yoga helps manage depression as well as boosting concentration levels.

Manage your technology

Your phone may be your best friend while at work, but managing its use is crucial to avoiding burnout and keeping up with productivity. To avoid distraction, turn off push notifications on your phone and when you're starting to feel a little sluggish, give yourself a 5 minute break and do something fun like play the latest puzzle or word game. Make sure you're getting out of the house for lunch – eating at your desk means you'll continue working through it. Whether it's just going across the road or down the road to get some fresh air, it's imperative that you're taking at least half an hour away from work every few hours.
