Job Search at the Internet Age

##

As the internet becomes more and more prevalent in our society, so does the job market. In fact, it's estimated that by 2025 there will be a whopping 50 million jobs created in the United States alone. So to find a new career, you simply have to exercise your free time on any of these websites.

We've compiled a list of some of the best websites out there for getting started on your job search and scoring some work experience.

1.  ZipRecruiter
This website was amazing for me and ended up getting me tons of interviews with the companies I applied to. It has a very nice layout that makes it easy to post your resume and search for jobs. You can set up searches based on your location, salary requirements, and experience level. You also have the option of posting jobs on your own or simply just browsing available positions on their website. It's 100% free to use and has tons of jobs posted daily.
2.  Indeed
This website is pretty much the same as ZipRecruiter. It has a nice layout and you can search for jobs by location, salary, experience, etc. They also have a cool feature that shows you how many other people you're competing with for a job (the number of applications). This site is 100% free to use and is also a great website to find jobs on.
3.  New York Times Job Search
The New York Times job search is another great place to look for work opportunities in your area or anywhere in the United States for that matter. They have a very nice layout that includes many different job categories for you to browse. There are even little "sub-categories" of occupations that you can choose from. The main categories you'll find include: office, administration, engineering, healthcare, finance and accounting, marketing and sales, teaching and learning, computers, medicine and science. There are also many sub categories located within each main category so if you're looking for something more specific it shouldn't be too hard to find what interests you.
4.  CareerBuilder
This website is great because it has a huge amount of jobs available at all levels of experience as well as on different companies. You can choose a specific location and then search based on salary, experience, and the number of job openings. They also have a "salary tool" that allows you to set your annual salary requirements and then search for jobs that fall into that price range. The layout of this website is very simplistic which makes searching for jobs much easier.
5.  LinkedIn
This is my personal favorite website for finding jobs because it's provided me with the most job opportunities by far. It's all about networking in the professional world and LinkedIn provides you an easy way to do just that. It's great to see what companies are posting positions on the site and then reaching out to them directly. You can "follow" certain companies that interest you and then receive notifications when any jobs are posted. Having a LinkedIn profile isn't required but it does help strengthen your network of professionals, which will definitely come in handy during your job search.
6.  Swagbucks
Swagbucks is another great place to earn some extra cash on the side while looking for work. They have several different activities that allow you to earn points, which you can then redeem for gift cards or PayPal cash. These activities include watching videos, taking surveys, playing games and shopping online just to name a few. The opportunities are almost unlimited so it's a great way to make some extra cash while looking for a job.
7.  CareerBuilder Mobile App
This app is also very helpful during your job search because it allows you to search for jobs on the go. You can filter jobs based on location and desired salary, experience, etc. The application also has an email function that allows you to apply directly from the app which is very convenient and easy. It provides you with notifications when any new jobs are posted so you don't have to worry about missing any opportunities! They even have a "salary guide" where they list salaries in your area based on your profession and years of experience.
8.  Job Search Groups
This website is one of my personal favorites because it's so different from any other job search website out there. It's a community where you can do a variety of activities such as posting your resume, joining discussion forums and networking with other people on a similar level in the job world. You can even post your resume up to three times! Not only that but you can also join them in "job due dates" based on when they expect new employees to be hired. I've learned a lot from this site and it's definitely worth checking out as well!
9.  Simply Hired
Simply Hired is another fantastic website that's dedicated only to finding and posting job openings. They have a wide variety of jobs available at all levels of experience and location. You can search by company or keyword, salary and experience level. They also have a feature where you can view the number of other people who are applying for jobs near you at any given time which is always helpful for comparing your odds. Not only that but they even show you how many people will be competing with you for each position.
10. IvyMike.com
This website has very easy and simple functions that allow you to browse available positions and apply if you find something you're interested in. It's a very specific platform so if you're after something specific they probably don't have it listed on their website but it's worth checking out just in case they do!
11.  TheLadders
I've only just recently started using this website to try and find work, but I've found that it's pretty comprehensive. They have a wide variety of jobs available all over the country as well as all experience levels. They also have a "salary feature" that allows you to enter your desired salary requirements, name and location and then the system will show you all the jobs that fall within your parameters. This website is free but there is also an option to pay $9.99 a month for extra features such as job alerts and access to more search options.
12.  Indeed
Indeed is another great website for finding jobs of all levels of experience in your area or anywhere in the country! They also have a reasonably easy layout that's very easy to navigate through when searching. They have a "community" section that allows you to follow different companies and receive emails when they post new positions on their site which I've found very useful!
13.

Conclusion
There are many more websites that I could list, but they'd all be similar to these few. You can find plenty of job postings on these websites and you can also easily apply for them as well, but of course I would recommend checking out a few more websites than this just to make sure you're not missing anything important. There are also some other websites that I basically found by accident that I really love so check those out as well!
