LiquidNet Ltd and Netcom Consulting Inc Join Forces for a Mobile SMS Marketing Venture
It's a new business partnering that will see the two companies work together to provide businesses in the global mobile sector with a great service.
The joint venture has been announced by LiquidNet Ltd and Netcom Consulting Inc, both of which are based in London. The two firms have come together to offer enterprises and professional services firms an effective way to engage with shoppers during the checkout process on their smartphone apps and websites.
M-Commerce is becoming more popular by day -- almost three out of five people shop online now -- but despite this consumers are often hesitant about making purchases on mobile devices when doing so would force them to part with their credit details or share personal information, notes CEO of Netcom Consulting Inc, Russell Hartnett.
As a result, a lot of people prefer to make purchases in-store. This is great for brick and mortar businesses, but it can also be a bit of a drag if the items that consumers want are only available online.
This is where the new service comes in. Netcom is an SMS firm and specializes in using the medium to help enterprises and firms connect with potential customers. According to the company's director, SMS marketing has many benefits including being cost-effective, personal and easy to use compared with other marketing forms such as email.
Netcom typically works with clients who need help engaging with their customers via text messaging solutions. The companies' collaboration with LiquidNet will allow them to tap into the latter's e-commerce expertise to build on this.
With a network of over 14,000 mobile operators around the world, LiquidNet is said to have a wealth of experience in the space and will be able to guide both companies through their new joint venture.
For example, it can explain how different operators handle text messaging. This includes finding out about SMS-related charges for sending messages and checking if there are any restrictions on sending bulk messages. It can also help Netcom pinpoint which markets are most lucrative for its clients and provide insight into which English-speaking markets work best for SMS marketing campaigns.
LiquidNet will also be able to cut on the time needed for Netcom's clients to get new cards approved and credited to their accounts.
The deal between the two companies means that LiquidNet will take over Netcom's text messaging service and be responsible for marketing and converting SMSs which were previously sent by Netcom clients into active sales opportunities.
"The merger with LiquidNet provides a great opportunity to ensure that our clients increase the number of inquiries they receive from customers via mobile devices," Hartnett added.
According to Hartnett, Netcom is looking forward to bringing its "advanced e-commerce solutions" under LiquidNet's wing.
"We will be able to enhance and accelerate the value we can offer, to our clients and our existing customers from the LiquidNet team," he said.
Hartnett continued: "It is a natural progression for us, as we have seen a significant growth in the amount of calls and SMSs that we use. We look forward to servicing our clients with mobile messaging services, as well as our long established e-commerce solutions."
The companies have decided that LiquidNet will be responsible for all mobile marketing via SMS. This includes service provision, pricing and platforms on which messages will be sent. However, Netcom will retain its SMS messaging platforms while also benefiting from having greater access to LiquidNet's network of text message networks.
"The addition of Netcom's expertise to LiquidNet's existing service portfolio, will appeal to businesses searching for simple and effective ways to increase customer engagement," said Tony Hunter, LiquidNet's CEO.
Hunter added: "The mobile channel is vastly under-utilised by many organisations around the world. This deal will not only help boost SMS revenue streams for our networks, but it will also allow us to enhance our offerings to enterprises in terms of M-Commerce."
LiquidNet specializes in sending marketing messages via SMS and handling e-commerce transactions via mobile. The company employs more than 200 people in offices around the world including Europe, India, Africa and Latin America.
NETCOM CONSULTING INC and LIQUIDNET LTD are both listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).
