We currently have an opportunity available for a Full Stack Developer to join our team at USM Technologies. We are seeking someone who is proficient in Python and Java among other languages to be part of our agile development team. This full time position has flexible hours Monday to Friday and is based out of our Fort Lauderdale office located on International Drive (1 mile South of Daytona Beach). Compensation is commensurate with experience and potential for the right candidates.
Responsibilities:
· Write code using Python and its libraries such as Django or Flask.
· Write tests and unit tests to ensure code stays clean.
· Design, develop, debug and maintain web applications that function properly under normal operation as well as under extreme conditions.
· Develop out of the box solutions for client needs/requirements that can be delivered in a short timeline (1 month to 6 months). This means solutions have to be developed with minimal changes from initial concept to delivery. This also means limiting dependencies and re-usability of core modules/code libraries minimally (if at all). The more re-usable, the better.
· Ensure an easy to use and understandable web interface is brought to web applications.
· Design and develop web interfaces that do not only rely on aesthetics but focus on usability, function and performance. This means creating applications that can be used by a wide audience of consumers as well as developers without much effort involved.
· Communication with business analysts and other developers regarding any changes or improvements in the code base and ways to improve the design/functionality of applications.
· Validate and test web features across all browsers and platforms to ensure a smooth user experience.
· Ensure that the code that is developed is secure from external threats (ie: XSS). This means writing secure code, implementing secure modules and frameworks. This also includes the development of back-end applications that are secure from SQL injection attacks.
· Ensure maintenance of code to make sure it is up-to-date with current market trends as well as current technologies.
Requirements:
· At least 3 years of experience developing web applications using Python. The more years of experience you have, the better but this base requirement will not be broken for any candidate (including senior level candidates).
· Experience with modern web technologies such as HTML5 and JavaScript is a plus.
· Experience with RESTful APIs and SOAP/WSDL services.
· Experience with Unix/Linux environments (preferably debian-based). Intended candidates should also have experience in testing and debugging of Unix applications.
· Familiarity with unit testing frameworks such as nose and unittest. This would include unit tests for web applications using werkzeug or mock. It's expected that candidates should have at least done simple test driven development for their code base before joining the team.
· Experience with testing databases such as Postgres, MySQL or MS SQL would be an advantage.
· Experience developing in a microservice architecture is a plus. This means you know what to deploy and the difference between monolithic and microservices. This would also mean you're familiar with technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
· Comfortable working remotely as required by the position being applied for (1–2 times a month).
