Using testimonials is one of the most powerful ways to promote your company, products or services. Testimonial marketing can increase sales by as much as 15%, and that's just the beginning. In an effort to stand out from the crowd, you need to create unique and compelling testimonials. We have done this for brands like 2pm and Google before, now it's your turn!

What are testimonials?
A testimonial is a brief review or opinion about your product or service written by a customer. Testimonials can be one-line reviews of your products to describe why a person would recommend it, longer reviews with background information on how the product fulfills their needs, or specialty interviews with experts. For example: "I was looking for a new phone case that was lightweight but durable so I could protect my iPhone 8 Plus during my daily workouts in the park. I found it in this case from Brand X. It's lightweight, comfortable and I love the neon green color too!"

Testimonials serve many different purposes:

1. To establish your brand as an industry leader 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 
Testimonials can add credibility to your brand or product. They will help others see that you are experienced in your field, and you are a company that they can trust. A testimonial with a picture of someone happy and satisfied with your product also provides an element of trustworthiness as people are more likely to buy from a company they recognize.

2. To build your brand's reputation 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 
Testimonials are a way to let others know they can trust you, and will be familiar with your company or product. It also builds your brand's credibility on review sites like Trustpilot, where they will be seen by the top reviewers before deciding to purchase.

3. To increase the number of people who buy from you !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! Infographics of testimonials have been found to significantly increase conversions and sales on e-commerce websites, according to University of Southern California professor David Aaker.

4. To separate you from the competition 🌟 🌟 🌟 
A good testimonial marketing campaign can make you stand out from the competition. For example, if your main competitor has an e-commerce website for a similar product or service, then offering a coupon code for their product can help you to gain an edge on them and make more sales. Also, if you have friends in the industry who are willing to write testimonials about your product or service, then that could be a great way to distinguish yourself.

5. To delight and surprise your customers 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 
If you are always adding new testimonials to your website, then the excitement will spread and people will know when they can expect a new one. They can start to anticipate that they will get a little bit of enjoyment once they visit, which is always good for business.

6. To increase the length of time someone stays on your website !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! A longer stay on your website will help you to track their interests, learn about them and make sure you have convinced them to buy from you. You can even see if they are starting to look at other products or services that you offer.


How do you create a great testimonial?

1. Make them unique and personal !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! It's a good idea to have different types of testimonials depending on your company or brand. If you have an e-commerce website, then it's best to have at least one general input section so people can comment or write their own testimonial without any text templates. However, if you have a service-based website, then you should have a separate testimonial section for each of your different services so that people can say exactly what they want.

2. Make them useful !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! A great way to make a testimonial more useful is to combine it with a picture or graphic that gives your reader even more insight into how they could use the product or service, such as this example from 2pm:

3. Offer some incentives for those who write them (optional) !! !! !! !! !! !! !! People who already trust and like your company will appreciate any opportunity to let others know just how happy they are with their purchase. You can offer things like a discount, a coupon code or simply just your appreciation. It's a good idea to have some type of structure throughout your website that allows people to submit their testimonials with ease, because some people will be shy or worried about being wrong. 4. Include personal details (optional) !!! !!! !!! !!! Feel free to ask for more information if you feel it would be useful for the story that they are telling. Things like height and weight are important pieces of information if they were trying out your clothes or shoes, while things like height and weight are not as important when they were writing their review on a service you offered.

5. Ask for a photo (optional) !!! !!! !!! ! ! ! ! Include a photo if you want to be able to identify the person who wrote the testimonial. Some people will be happy to send their own, while others will prefer that you show the customer what they wrote on your website.
