12 Essential new features of Office 12

Quite literally the most requested upgrade since the first Office, Office 12 finally delivers on what people have wanted for years and gives a whole new experience. Here are 12 of our favorite features that we're sure you'll love.

New, faster and leaner user interface
The Office 12 user interface has been completely revamped to look great, take up less space, load faster and be more responsive. It's now the Office you've come to know and love even better.

File-level security & digital signatures
For the first time in Office, you can protect individual files with password protection and set permissions for editing. You can also add a digital signature document level so that anyone opening your document knows that it's from you.

Web integration & online services
The new Office online tools can be used to create and edit documents, track changes to documents and share them with others (including Word for iPhone for the first time)! You can also improve your document with a variety of commenting tools. And if you're working in Excel, you'll have the ability to work with data from noted in Access.

Taking notes, Professional edition only
With the new Office 12, you can take notes in Word or Excel. Import from OneNote and use OneNote to do your note taking. You can also work together on shared documents in real time via e-mail or SkyDrive.

Making contacts & getting connected with Outlook
You can now sync your contacts between Outlook and Office 365, making it easy to stay on top of your contacts and get appointments or e-mail messages. You can also make better use of the contact information you already have, since a contact's name shows up in the Name field when you create a new e-mail message.

Collaborating in real time on Excel workbooks in another person's office
You can now collaborate in real time when you're working on a workbook using Excel 2013 client software. With this capability, you can open and edit a file that's stored in someone else's SkyDrive or Office 365 account without needing to download the file. You can even work on a workbook while you're offline. When you reconnect online, your edits are automatically synchronized with the file being shared.

Encrypting your e-mail messages
You can now protect your e-mail messages with Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption. TLS encryption ensures that only the intended recipients can read the message. If you use Office 365, this feature is turned on automatically.

Working together on shared documents in real time via e-mail or SkyDriveYou can now work together on shared documents in real time via e-mail or SkyDrive. You can track the changes that someone else makes to a shared document and review the changes before accepting them in the document. If you use Office 365, this feature is turned on automatically.

Easier collaboration on PowerPoint presentationsYou can now easily collaborate in real-time on PowerPoint presentations while working offline, with minimal disruption when you reconnect online. When you reconnect, your changes are automatically synchronized with the file being shared.

Commenting tools for WordSometimes it's hard to tell whether readers understand what you're trying to say. With a click of your mouse, you can add highlights and strikethroughs to your Word documents, as well as add comments directly to a document's text.

[/ARTICLE END]
Office 12 has several awesome features that are definitely going to make your life easier. But one of the most useful things about Office is that you can make changes to these features or even add additional features by opening an Excel workbook under the "File" menu.
The video below shows you how to create a custom customized menu of Excel commands. Once you have this menu in place, it is just a click away from creating shortcuts for common commands. You can even easily select and copy individual commands or regions of cells, so you can use them as needed in your workbooks and presentations.
Another great time saver is to do final touches on your presentation from behind the scenes, actually take a few minutes to preview your presentation before sending it off.
All this and more can be done with Excel 2010 .  This is just a simple example of what is possible. So if you haven't seen the new features in Excel 2010, you are really missing out.
1) To create a custom menu:
a)     Open the workbook that you want to create a menu for. (In this example we will use "WorkbookMenuTest") and go to the "File" menu, then select customize.
From there you will see the form that allows you to create your custom menu. The first section under "Menu & Toolbars" is for creating a new command or modifying an existing one. This is where we want to start by creating a new command.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, I think Office 2010 is a great product but there are definitely some features that are not as good as they could be. But the new Office 12 is definitely worth upgrading . If you have not upgraded yet, wait until you see all the awesome features that you can do in Office 12.
I hope this article was helpful to decide whether or not to upgrade. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to comment below or contact us here at http://www.office-tips.com/.
