Addictive Windows Mobile Epic Journey Game

I was bored and at home one day when I decided to download a game on my phone. When I searched the App Store, this game looked like it might be interesting so I installed it without much thought. When the game started up, I had no idea what to expect!
The setup of the game is very simple: you have a boat at the bottom of your screen which has a little sailor man on it who is rowing up rivers. You are advancing up levels by rowing farther and farther until you reach an impassable waterfall. At that point, you need to turn around and find another route or try again later with more skill and understanding of how the physics work in this strange world.
After a while, you begin to realize that the game requires you to adjust your rowing skills to match the level on the screen. Levels alternate between sunny and rainy days, so there are many hours of practice in which to perfect your technique. The sun and rain effects are really quite affecting.. It takes a long time to find the precise combination of boat speed, angle of rowing and other factors that enables you access to rivers before the waterfall.
Unfortunately for me, I was too impatient for success so I decided early on that I was not going back to practice after my first failure. My boat got too caught in the current and I was unable to get around the waterfall. I wasn't going to try again.
I don't regret it though. I'm sure this is a very addictive game that most people would be quite good at if they gave it a chance. I just didn't feel like playing it anymore because I was bored after my first short failure.
I remain thankful that Shailendra created this game since it did give me a nice break from work before my next appointment with one of my clients! Thanks Shailendra!

GASP... You've never heard of the The Epic Journey Game?
Well, let me fill you in. I'll just walk you through the steps of playing it. And then maybe you'll want to play it too!
• You start by clicking on the link above  (or search for it on your app store) • You install the free 2MB application that comes as part of an epic journey  • It fires up, and asks for permission to send you push notifications • You agree and then click "START" • Then a little boat appears, with a tiny animated guy rowing it • The boat is on a river that splits into two paths, labeled "Sunny" and "Rainy". • You click on the path you'd like to try. • If you make it, your phone vibrates, and a big number pops up and says "1" • If you fail, your phone vibrates, and a big number pops up and says "0".
Oh, did I mention there's is a high score list? You can always go back in the application to see who has the highest score!
This is how it looks when you win:
Here's how it looks when you lose:
I mean come on... How could anyone not want to play this game? And the best part is that it takes only 2MB of space on your Windows Mobile device. And did I mention it's COMPLETELY FREE?
So, have fun, and good luck on your epic journey!

Title: Addictive Windows Mobile Epic Journey Game
This is another game that has been around for years and probably one of the first games to introduce Windows Phone users to the concept of "score chasing". It would be hard to find a gamer who hasn't heard of it. The gameplay is simple but addicting (much like Angry Birds). You use a cannon to shoot balls at white blocks. There are many different types of blocks and you must remove them in the correct order. It's not as easy as it sounds because some blocks are solid while others are nothing more than decoys. There are also some special blocks that can only be destroyed by ball size. Can you arrive at the final white block without running out of balls? It takes a lot of strategy but once you make it through, you'll be hooked and want to get a new high score.
The graphics aren't going to win any design awards but the game itself is great! If you're looking for an entertaining game that can be taken with you on the go, Angry Birds is a perfect choice (but this week, I'm picking The Epic Journey Game).
Download: Windows Phone 7/8, iPhone and iPad, Android.

The game was originally made by Hudson Soft and released in Japan on the NEC PC-8801 and MSX2 computers in 1983. It is an action puzzle game where the player controls a stick figure named Bub and must travel around seven different levels (called Pitfalls) to rescue Princess Iris from Mórbido. The player only has one life; if Bub is killed by an enemy, he will be returned to the beginning of the level.
One special feature of this game is that it takes inspiration from the novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland , as several aspects of both stories are similar.
The 3D graphics of the game were made by BlueSky Software and published by Nintendo. Hudson Soft owns the license to publish the game in North America, other than Nintendo, who has no right to publish it. The game was released in 2001 for the GameCube, Xbox (which was later re-released as a digital download) and PC.

I had heard about this classic back when I was an undergrad at UT Knoxville . I downloaded it from my website at the time ( waybackmachine ) and played it a few times but never managed to get past level seven. Then I tried the free version and it was a huge success.
This week, once again I was trying to get through level 7 of the free version, but I kept failing. So, my biggest problem this week is figuring out how to play the game for more than 10 minutes without dying!
The game features a storyline that takes place in Medieval Europe where you are tasked with saving Princess Ariel from evil wizard Drasimol . To do so, you must make your way across seven worlds full of obstacles and enemies to reach the Castle of Drasimol. To make it easier for you, your mannequin friend Gander keeps you updated on your location on a map which is visible at all times.

Conclusion
As you can see, the games featured this week are not the easiest of games nor the most complex. That's why I'm excited to hear that this series is going to eventually feature more difficult and challenging games like Tiny Wings and Guns'n'Glory. In fact, if you have a game you'd like to see considered for a future "Games You Can't Miss" post, leave a comment below!
Have a great week everyone! You're looking good! Your shoulders and arms look generally defined. Keep up the great work! *hint hint* XOXO *hint hint*
