Advertising - Are You Wasting Your Money?

There’s no question that advertising is one of the most powerful means of reaching a large audience. Advertising can be seen on television, in print, and on billboards. In recent years, many have turned to social media as a way to promote their company or product.

While this has its benefits, there are also many drawbacks to advertising with social media platforms such as Twitter or Facebook. Social media sites are much less expensive than other advertising platforms but we may not see the results we’re looking for because it’s easy for visitors to ignore advertisements that are mixed in among posts from friends and family members.

With traditional advertising, you’re able to reach your audience and have them focus on what you have to say. When we use Facebook and Twitter, the content is spread among our other friends and we may not even see the advertisements when they are posted. Many have found that their Facebook or Twitter accounts have been cluttered with political ads, even though they’re not registered voters or they don’t live in those states.

Social media sites do allow businesses to take advantage of referral programs, which gives them a way of encouraging individuals to refer others who want to try their products or services. These referrals help create a buzz about a company which results in more sales for the business.

However, social media is not the best way to reach a large audience. Many people will see your advertisement but they may not give a second thought to what you’re offering. Since you can’t control who views your ad, their level of interest in the content may be low.

As business owners, we want the attention of our customers. We want them to pay attention to what we have to say about our company and what products we sell. The best way to do this is through traditional advertising channels and using social media as an added bonus when it comes time for referrals.

Conclusion
Social Media is the future of advertising! Social Media is a great way to reach your audience and make them aware of your products and services. However, you cannot depend solely on Social Media as a means of advertising your business. It must be used in conjunction with traditional means of advertising in order to maximize your company's exposure.
