I'm not here to sell you on anything - because I don't know what works and what doesn't work, so I can't sell it. But I can give advice on how things work in the rest of the world. There are plenty of people offering you their secrets to success, but I don't know if their secrets will work. And I don't want to know until I test them out for myself.

Your tagline is one of the most important pieces because this is what will make your profile memorable and different from all others. Your tagline should be short, catchy and must reflect the entire message of your profile in only 4-5 words.

I also recommend that you set your profile to private. This is an option that is found under MY PAGE/PROFILE. You can only be seen by those who know the password or are a "friend" of you on Facebook. There are several other settings for privacy as well, so read up on the rest of them to see what else you can do to make your page private or shared only with the people you want to see it!

Let's get started...
When creating your tagline, keep in mind it should be short and simple. The more unnecessary words that get in there will just confuse people and leave them wondering what they just came across. For example, when I first started out, I tried to think of a short and snappy tagline to go with my profile - but this is the only one that managed to sneak in:
I thought the bit about "goes beyond just a profile" was a good thing because it sounds opinionated and personal; however, when you look at people who are using these kinds of titles, most of them fail to fall into the category. This is because their names are generic enough that they don't really suggest anything about what they do. In my case, my name does just that! And so should yours. The more uniqueness you have in your name alone, the better off you'll be.

Let's start with some basic and generic titles. If this is all you have in mind, you can skip the rest of this section and call it a day.

Examples: Business Coach; Entrepreneur; Internet Marketer; Web Master; SEO Expert...

These are the most common ones I see, and it's just not working out for most people because these are all too broad. Anyone can call themselves these things, but what really sets them apart from the crowd? That's what your title should say! If you're an Internet Marketer who does not offer anything to do with a system or a product of your own, then that's not going to work.
However, if you are a business coach or a mentor with a specific niche area (marketing tools, blogging, social media strategy or web design), then that would be a pretty good title to go with.
Another thing to keep in mind is using your name. If you've always called yourself Dave, then what's going to make your new title stand out?
Examples: Business Coach - Dave Taylor; Entrepreneur - Dave Paré; Internet Marketer - Dave Taylor; Web Master - David Paré...
The final thing to remember is that if you do use your name as your tagline, try to make it as unique as possible! The more unique it is, the better off you'll be. As I mentioned before, I'll go into more detail about this in the next section.

Now that you've decided on a tagline (or are thinking to go with the generic one), let's look at what you should do next.

Here is where the uniqueness of your name comes into play. "Dave" isn't very unique - but "Dave Paré" is! It leaves a lot more room for imagination and allows people to make up their own ideas of who you might be as a person, what you're all about and what kind of things you do.

Conclusion: Choose a unique name. Do a little research on your own and see if that name is already in use by someone else. If so, think of another one!

In your profile setup, the following sections should be present:
1) ABOUT ME
2) MISSION STATEMENT/BRIEF BIO
3) BUSINESS BASED ON YOUR TAGLINE HERE
4) PROFILE STATUS AND AGE...
5) WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR IN THE NEXT 5 YEARS...


ACTION STEPS: Write down in a list all the things you enjoy doing, the people you enjoy being around and the work you love to do.
