CBS 2′s Dave Carlin spoke exclusively to the man who got the deer out of harm's way. And, for his own safety, he remained anonymous. The video was captured late Sunday by a cell phone that showed the doe flailing about in a storm drain near Hart Street and Foster Avenue in East New York. It was raining hard at the time, and neighbors could hear it calling for help. "It was a heart-wrenching, pitiful cry," said Sarah Gogel, who was on a walk with her husband. "We were trying to figure out what happened." Gogel called police and an animal rescue group for help. And then she spotted this man, who we'll call "Uncle Mike" as he's the uncle of her husband's girlfriend. He had stopped at a nearby gas station to get something to eat. He says a man there told him about the deer in distress, so he came in search of the animal. "I heard this crying down here and I thought someone was having sex or something," Uncle Mike said. "I looked down and I saw the fawn crying.
