Write on your business card

 Write on your business card

Writing on your business card is a simple way to make an impression. It also provides a good opportunity for you to demonstrate and share your personality and expertise. The worst that can happen is that the recipient of your card will take it home with them, but you increase the chances of them calling or visiting by writing something in it.

Never underestimate the effect of a handwritten note.
Don't use fancy fonts and don't write things that are unnecessary to your business card. But, it is important that you write something on your business card so people will find you memorable and want to interact with you. Here are a few guidelines to follow:
1)  Write something in the space provided on your business card (usually located on the back).
2) If there isn't an area for writing, use a post-it note or even use a piece of tape to attach a note onto your business card. Whatever it takes, just be sure to leave something in writing contact information on your business card.
3)  Write your name.
4)  Underneath your name, write a positive message. This is the most important part of your business card. Write something that will make a positive impression on the reader. I always say, "You should have contact information on your business card because you never know who might be in need of assistance or advice."
5)  Write a brief statistic about yourself (e.g., professional schools attended).
6) If you are using a post-it note to attach a note, attach it at the end of your note so there is enough space for people to read your message without the post-it notes getting in their way.
7)   If you are using tape to attach a note, attach it in the middle of your note so that people will see it first when they read your card.
8)  If you are attaching a post-it note or even taping a piece of paper to the back of your business card, consider writing something witty. It can be as simple as: "I was hoping you'd call."
9)   Keep things positive! You want people to remember how great you are and what an impact you might make on their business or life. Don't write anything negative that could easily be construed as a put-down.
10)  Be clever with your words (e.g. re-word something that sounds negative, write an acronym for something or add a funny saying).
11)  If you are using post-it notes to attach a note, make sure you include the entire message. The person will read the entire note and not just see the "call me" part.
12)  If your business card looks cluttered, it is harder to read.
13)  It is much easier to put a business card in someone's hand than bring them up to your desk; remember that! So, when you're handing out your cards, ask people what type of cards they prefer (e.g. "would you like to have it in a pocket folder or would you prefer the card itself?").
14)  If you are using a post-it note, make sure that people can read your message without having to pick up and read the entire business card. You will save time for both you and the recipient.
15)   Last but not least, be sure to include your contact information (e.g., phone number, email address, website URL). Don't write anything else on your business card; if there isn't room for contact information, then something is wrong with your business card.

Hi Tina, I'm not familiar with the services that you are using, but a simple way to figure out who is doing it, is by installing one of those anti-spam services and track the IPF address. Usually spam bots have repeating addresses. But if you don't want to pay for something like that, I can help you with it: just open a support ticket and we'll figure out a way to track this for free.
