Your Own Greeting Card Print Shop

Greeting cards are popular for any occasion and it's always a pleasure to receive one. Wouldn't you like to make some people happy too? Making a card from home is easy! We'll show you how in this post.

Because they're not something they might buy at the store, homemade cards are more valued and special. Whether you want to send one to your mom or your best friend, try our step-by-step tutorial on how to turn photos into greeting cards at home.

Start by downloading your favorite images into your computer. If you're using a standard picture editing software, like Photoshop, you can use the "open image" option to get an image saved on your computer. If you're using a foreign software (like mine with Japanese characters), there will be some trouble when importing in some of your pictures. In this case, convert the image before you proceed to the printing stage.

The next step is to place all the pictures in order horizontally on a sheet of paper and photocopy all of them (note: it's not necessary if only one or two photos are being used). The paper should be as thick as possible so that it won't tear when ripped later. All of the copies should be turned to the same direction and stored in an envelope.

The next step is to print photos on your ordinary photo paper. It might cost you some money if you're using film but this method is less risky because you can make several copies and try again if there are any problems with the printing.

A little trick with photo paper is that it's easier to write on the back side instead of on the front side because photos printed with a regular inkjet printer look faded after a few uses. So, for example, you can write "Happy Birthday" or "Congratulations" without having to worry that it won't be readable after any number of times that it was flipped over. Here follows the method on how to print:

Print the first photo with 2 copies right afterwards.

Print 2 more copies for the second photo and then another 2 for the next photo. Repeat this step until you have all of your photos printed out. Now, you can turn over each set and check which side of each set is facing up. You should be able to see a line of copy marks which indicates "up". If not, you should repeat the printing again from step 3. Cut out each picture from its paper and store them in an envelope (also put a piece of tape on the top flap to make sure it won't fold back).

Now, you can assemble your cards. Fold the cards in half and then fold them again to make the crease that you'll need for the next step. When folding, make sure that you're working with a crease so it will be easier to close your card later on.

Fold again and place it face down with the crease on top of the opening (like a book). Then fold again in half to create another crease. Place them face down again and continue folding until you end up with 4 folds; open all of them at once (the flap should be facing up) and place them in an envelope.

The last step is to staple the envelope shut and write a message or your own greeting on the back. Then you're ready to send it anywhere!

Easy and fun, right? You can create cards for any exciting occasions such as weddings, birthdays, or even cute animal pictures! Don't forget to share your homemade greetings with us on our Facebook page so we can have a look. Have fun!
