It is that one time in a million when something tragic happens and this product was able to save our son from serious injury. Our son has a severe allergy to everything that goes into his body, so any kind of rash or burn that could happen would have been life-threatening. Unfortunately, this was one of those unfortunate moments in time. He had a major burn on his hand and it looked like he had been burned with a blow torch. So we started searching the internet for products that would help him, hoping there was something out there that would help him heal from such an awful experience. The first thing we found was Stainsafe because it seemed to be the best product for what we needed and I went ahead and purchased the product immediately. The product came in the mail quickly and my husband went to work and installed it by taping the mat to my son's mattress. I followed his instructions and instructed my son to stay off of his hand until we could get him to a doctor to fix his hand. He is a very stubborn child, so he didn't want me to call his allergist for fear of what he would get. I knew that eventually this was going to happen, so I just had him follow directions. Unfortunately, within 24 hours the burn was worse than before and he was not responding well at all. We had no choice but to take him into the emergency room immediately because we didn't want this situation getting worse over time. It took a while to get into see the doctor because they had many patients that night with burns from hot oil, hot water, and all kinds of different accidents. We waited for about an hour before we even got to see the doctor. My son was screaming about his hand hurting and I told him he had to be a man about it because he was going to have to have this fixed under anesthesia if he couldn't calm down.

Conclusion

Thankfully, the doctor was able to see us immediately and my son was given a shot of something for the pain. The doctor put a numbing agent on his hand, fixed the burn and gave him some antibiotics to help prevent infection. After a few days of skin grafts, my son's hand looked much better than I had originally thought it would. It could have been so much worse if we didn't have the Stainsafe mattress protector under his mattress. He is now in second grade and has not burned himself since that terrible accident last year.
