The computer has a magnetically attached lid that protects your screen when closed so you can have it open on your lap when you're on the go while still being protected! -Just like all other Apple computers, the new air runs on Mac OS X operating system software. This includes a Safari web browser with tabbed browsing, desktop search and an integrated iPod player that syncs automatically with iTunes(if you own an iPod).

The US Department of Defense has started a project to research the use of military grade laptops for use in general purpose computing. The project, known as "Hack the Hump", will see the development and subsequent deployment of new technologies as they are available, eventually resulting in military grade laptops that are more reliable, secure and easier to use than traditional systems.
Currently computers used by the United States Army and Air Force amongst other services are still using traditional equipment such as IBM-compatible mainframe systems. This archaic equipment has been replaced by more modern devices such as Apple MacBooks and Microsoft Surface Pro's but due to their limited capabilities in different areas and long replacement cycles these newer devices have not yet been adopted by all branches of the US military.
Conclusion:
The new military grade laptops based on Apple's OS X platform is set to revolutionize the world of military data processing, enabling increased efficiency and easier use of essential but often complex systems.
