El Poquer es una creación de la comunidad madrileña que suena al nombre de un proyecto anterior, el grupo Diez minutos. El Poquer trata sobre lo que ocurre cuando nuestros intereses se desvían hacia otros estamentos a los cuales no pertenecemos: el colectivo, el público, la sociedad en general. En palabras del propio grupo "Nuestro discurso normalmente es para las minorías y no para nosotr@s".

The Poquer is a creation of the Madrid Community that sounds like the name of an earlier project, Diez Minutos. The Poquer talks about what happens when our interests get diverted towards other sectors with which we do not belong: the collectivity, the public, society in general. In words by Diez Minutos "Our normal discourse is for minorities and not for us".

El Poquer, meaning the Poqueiras (an Iberian word that means 'here' or 'now' in English) is a collective artistic project born from Madrid's local Dogma. The group of friends and associates were making noise for some time, exercising their love of music, urban art and performance. In the summer of 2012 they decided to formalize the band into an entity, choosing an acronym that would refer to both their past as well as their future: "DIEZ MINUTOS" (10 Minutes).

The Poquer concept was born from a personal crisis Rene had with his identity as a person from Madrid. His city was his birthplace and his place of origin, but at the same time, it was not his place. For a long time that has been happening, there were many who associated the capital of Spain with being a "big city", an urban conglomerate of people who come from different origins and have different lifestyles. But Madrid has always had much more to offer than what the visitors could see during their stay.

In Rene's case, he realized that he couldn't be just an immigrant from Madrid: he had to engage in other activities that went beyond himself as an individual. Thus began the idea behind The Poquer: to show the numerous parts of Madrid, as well as what they have in common.

The project is a subset of Dogma, basically the continuation of that group's activities, but with a more defined structure and more focused goals.

La enseña de The Poquer es una serie de óvulos que se izan como una bandera por la ciudad de Madrid. Los artistas cuyos nombres aparecen en la serie eran tod@s los miembros de Dogma y (quienes no podían ir) muchos amigos de la banda.

La serie comenzó en octubre de 2011 a través de una placa publicitaria instalada en la fachada del inmueble donde se desarrollaba el proyecto. Un año mas tarde, los activistas anunciaron que iba a salir un DVD con toda la obra realizada con esta placa.

The Poquer logo is a series of ova that are raised on a banner as a flag for the city of Madrid. The artists whose names appear in the series were all members of Dogma and (those who could not go) many friends of the band.

The series began in October 2011 on a placard installed on the facade of an building where the project was being developed. One year later, activists announced that it would come out a DVD with all the work done with this placard.

Throughout this series, you can observe some of the works made by Dogma (from its beginnings).

2.- Lo mismo que en las calles de Madrid, los óvulos están conectados entre sí; se puede caminar entre ellos y sentirse dentro de la ciudad, sin moverse del lugar.

Just like on streets in Madrid, ova are interconnected; you can walk between them and feel yourself part of the city, without moving from the place. .

  3.  El color rojo es la banda, y el negro el bloque. The red band is the group itself and black the block.

The red band is the Dogma band and black the block referring to the location of each of them in Madrid.

4.- Esta es una de las serie de óvulos que se izan como una bandera por la ciudad de Madrid.   El diseño original fue realizado con tintas en spray acrilico e ilustrado con plumillas tatuadas a mano.

Conclusion These are some of the series of ova that raise as a flag for the city of Madrid. The original design was realized with spray paint acrylic and illustrated with tattooed stickers on hand.  The sticker designs are the result of a collaboration between several artists.
