What Type of Computer Desk is Right for You?

When it comes to home furniture, the computer desk is often one of the most important items in any room. It's where we spend hours and hours every day, so it needs to be comfortable and functional. But what exactly does the type of desk that you buy say about you?

Some people like a simple, but minimalist design with only a keyboard tray and an ergonomic mouse pad; others might need two monitors at least. And if your desk is built with kids in mind, then keep in mind that they might not find it as enjoyable or interesting as adults do.

Kid Friendly Computer Desk

If you have children, a kid friendly computer desk is a necessity. The best way to avoid the inevitable desktop clutter that tends to collect within minutes, is to choose a simple theme and keep it consistent. A black and white cow print might seem like an odd choice for your kids computer desk, but since it's not exactly neutral or masculine, you shouldn't need to worry about it being a target for little hands. It will also help keep the desktop clear of anything that could potentially get in their way. If you can, try to find a design that fits with the rest of your child's room (wallpaper or bedding) or even trinkets that they already have around their room.

Minimalist Computer Desk

A minimalist computer desk is the most common of all designs, however it doesn't have to be boring! You can keep the desktop small and modern with a simple black and white theme by choosing your colours wisely. If you go for this design, it's not really necessary to buy an ergonomic keyboard tray as most modern keyboards are designed to fit on a standard desk. However if you have cash to spare then why not, because it will make your computer desk stand out from the rest.

Mid Size Computer Desk

Sometimes bigger isn't better – especially when it comes to home furniture. If you don't have a lot of space in your home office, but still want a good sized desk, then consider buying a mid size one. They fit best into smaller spaces and are easy to move around the room if you need to vacuum or clean it. And there are plenty of options available including: single pedestal, L-shaped and U-shaped desks that give you more workspace without taking up an extra square foot of space.

U Shape Desk Plans

If the kid-friendly computer desk isn't your cup of tea (or coffee), but you still want something that looks fun and interesting on your desktop, then think about getting a u shape computer desk. These are a great addition to any home office and are small enough (and inexpensive) that you can adjust the design as your desktop demands. You can also keep them in a corner so all of your stuff is contained – plus kids tend to like the freedom of having their own area.

Remember, you can always adjust the design based on materials that you have, or the space that you have available and there is no reason to stick with traditional designs. If your desk is boring and uninteresting, try adding a few new accessories or get rid of some old ones. You can also add computer accessories to your desk besides a computer keyboard and mouse. Some people find these items useful: wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, wireless speaker, cordless phone and a wireless web camera. Furthermore you can add an LCD monitor or even one for your lap (if you don't have one).

So, what type of desk will you choose?
