How to Build Great Relationships through Cold Calling
Relationships are a two-way street. If you want to form connections, then you have to put in the effort to make new friends. But where do you start?
First and foremost, don't give up! It's easy (and common) to feel discouraged when people hang up the phone on you or simply don't pick up your call. Don't let this discourage you from trying again and again with new people – that's a surefire way of forming strong relationships with others.
You should also never give your personal details away during cold calling; it's okay if they ask for them at some point in conversation, but not right at the beginning of conversation. You can give your number, but never reveal your address or any other details such as hobbies and interests. This will make you seem more appealing as a person.
Finally, when you do get through to someone, it's important that you don't stick to a script (unless you have one that's suited to the situation). Treat every call as if it were an opportunity for a brand new relationship – because it is! Just keep in mind that the first thing someone will ask is "what do you want?" and be prepared with an answer. Think about what your goal is; it might be better to persuade them into getting together with a friend of yours over dinner, for example.

Each person can start building successful relationships by using one simple skill: active listening. When you listen intently, you're creating an intimate bond – one that serves to strengthen a relationship and build trust. Here is how: It helps people understand your value.
Activate loyal followers.
When you are able to actively engage with someone and show that you are truly listening, it makes it very easy for them to open up about their personal and professional life . And when they do, this makes them feel more valued as a person. This also allows them to feel relaxed around you – so they're more likely to want to return the favor by helping you in some way (or referring you to a friend who might). When used successfully with customers, referrals from customers become a major asset for your company. Save yourself the time and money of having to approach people coldly by meeting new contacts where they are, are already interested in you, and open to hearing out your value proposition.

It takes some practice but when done correctly it can create a lot of value by building strong relationships with your colleagues, clients and partners. Here is how to build successful relationships through communication: Deliver value to others (serve first) .
Your words are only as good as the value they deliver. You can't just keep talking without adding real value. Otherwise your audience will be less likely to listen. If you want people to listen, give them a reason for listening – a reason that adds value in some way. Whether it's by giving them information, entertainment or inspiration, your message needs to serve someone else besides yourself (or your business). Serve first and gain their trust with true value. For example: Use attention-grabbing statements or ask compelling questions (to help get someone's attention).
Listen actively to show that you care (to gain trust).
Give sincere compliments to build rapport and loyalty.
Use a gentle touch but communicate firmly (to gain respect). Understand each person's perspective . People often speak and listen at cross-purposes. They talk past each other, not hearing what the other person is truly saying. To truly understand another person means to understand the meaning they place behind what they say, not just their words. For example: Ask questions to see if you understand their points of view (that is, ask them to clarify what they mean by something).
Reflect back their ideas as questions to see if you got it right.
Conclusion : You must truly understand their point of view before you can communicate effectively with that person.
