Pallet Covers
Imagine your garden as a beautiful, vibrant oasis. All the plants are flourishing, even the vines and flowers that seem to be flourishing for the first time in their lives. It’s then you realize what could have gotten neglected—the fence around your backyard. You don't have just one running dog or five children playing in and around it, but four cats who like to knock over small statues or lounge on top of it. You need a plan.
__________ Pallet Covers
These pallet covers can be your salvation. They camouflage the fence, but allow you to see through them. You can also use this type of cover for any type of patio furniture or other items, such as garbage cans just outside the fence's limits. Or to hide unsightly air conditioning units or chimneys poking out from the roof.
This can be a much quicker alternative to repainting your fence or installing an expensive fence cover.
__________ How To Make It
Take a look at the plans on these pallet covers, then make a trip to the home supply store. Find these items: • One pallet (check online for sources and vendors.) • Three 8' boards • Four 4' boards • Four 2" x 2" x 8' boards • Two 2" x 4" x 8' boards (for bracing) Here’s how you do it: Cut all the pieces of wood to length. You should have nine boards total. Lay all the boards on the fence, again making sure they’re not too near each other. Then lay them out like a deck of cards, creating a pattern of how you want your cover to look when it’s finished. It needn't be pretty – like something that would grace an at-home makeover show. If you're using this cover for something else besides a fence or garden gate, such as a decorative urn or vase, then match your stuff to the pallet itself.
It’s a good idea to use a heavy-duty staple gun and staples to attach the boards.
Once the boards are secured, paint them. I suggest using several colors, alternating from one board to another so it really looks like a crisscross pattern. Don't forget to paint the ceiling of your porch until you're done.
