The restaurants offer Japanese and Chinese foods, but do not provide alcohol. The menus include such dishes as garlic edamame, gyoza, roast pork buns, and sushi rolls with cooked shrimp.

The newest addition to the Panama sushi scene is Osaka, located in El Dorado just north of the Punta Pacifica Hospital. The prices are reasonable and it's conveniently located a short drive from the Hospital or any of the residential areas in Punta Pacifica. If you are already planning a visit to the Hospital or one of the other medical centers, I would definitely recommend stopping by their location on Albrook and Ave E, across from Macdonalds.

As for the sushi scene in Panama City, the best sushi I've had has been at Taka Piece on Via Brasil. The service there is friendly and the quality of their sushi is very high, especially for Panamá. They have some new additions to their menu including Kobe Beef Sashimi and some delectable dessert sushi featuring things like green tea ice cream.

Tako Sushi has several locations, but I think the best one is on Vía Brasil 3A Norte. I've been to all of their locations at least once and they're all very good. The sushi there is very fresh and delicious and the service has always been great.

Tako Sushi is definitely one of my favorite sushi restaurants in Panamá.

Sushi Restaurants in Panama City, Panama - not a comprehensive list-please feel free to mention other places by leaving a comment below. Thanks.

FISH MARKET - In Usaquen, the new seafood market located on Avenida Central # 19-45 and Calle del Medio #22-58 has many options for eating the freshest seafood in Panamá City. There are stalls inside the market itself as well as restaurants located just outside of it that specialize in fresh seafood offerings. They are open every day from 10am to 10pm. Most seafood options are available for take out as well. Fresh rainbow trout is usually available from November to April. This is a great place to eat seafood if you don't want a full-service sit down restaurant

SUSHISAMBA - (Panama City) Located in new Metropolitan Mall, Vía Argentina con Calle 50, phone: 732-5574. The menu offers a wide selection of sushi and other Japanese food options. Sushisamba has a nice atmosphere and is not too noisy. It is a good place to go for lunch or dinner.

JAPANESE RESTAURANTS - There are several Japanese restaurants scattered on the streets of Panama City. Some of these include: Minimoto, Ishida, Maru Sushi, Yaoki, Mura-ya and Mini-Maki-Sushi. Most offer some type of combination dinner with sushi, tempura and/or sashimi plates. These restaurants do not have websites so you will have to call or email them to get their address and phone number. Some restaurants also offer take out services such as JapaDori (Japan), Arigato Dinro (Japan).

Yaoki Sushi Restaurant - Located on Via España, Yaoki is located in the small food court in the back of the mall. There is seating for about 20 people total and reservations are suggested as it can get rather crowded at times. The menu offers a variety of rolls including some unique ones like the chef roll (contains salmon, tuna, yellowtail and shrimp) and caterpillar roll (with unagi sauce). Some of their best plates include the spider roll and lobster (cooked) sushi. Note: this restaurant does not serve any raw fish so if you are looking for something spicy you'll have to look elsewhere.

JAPADORI - (Panama City) Located in the heart of Casco Viejo on Calle Uruguay #41, phone: 420-0177. This is a small sushi stand located behind the tall building with the yellow lights on top. There is seating for 8 people and you can watch them prepare your order right in front of you. The menu includes several sushi rolls as well as Teriyaki dishes. JapaDori does not serve any raw fish so if you are looking for sashimi or nigiri styles this place will not be for you. They do have a limited selection of vegetarian plates that include things like Tofu salad, edamame and vegetable tempura.

Maki-sushi - Located in the center of the action on Avenida Central, Ave. Central #15-30, phone: 732-5574. This restaurant is located in a very nice European atmosphere with large windows facing the main street of the city. There is seating for about 50 people and reservations are suggested as it can get crowded at times. Maki-Sushi has a wide selection of maki rolls and also sells several different kinds of sashimi like salmon, tuna and yellowtail amongst other things. The service here is good although there have been some complaints about some items being "off" or under cooked.

Conclusion: This is a great place to get a taste of Japan in Panama City, Panama. It's not too loud and the food is delicious. A great place to go if you're looking for a nice sushi fix without having to travel too far from the city center.

Here are some other restaurants in Panama that offer good sushi service but no raw fish or raw seafood like sashimi:

If you want some good sushi and don't wan't any raw seafood then you should try Maris Sushi, located in Vasco Niebo (Calle Banderas) between Via Brasil and Avenida Central. They deliver a small amount of sashimi, nigiri and tempura dishes...
