RIN - an acronym for R in I n N avigation. It’s a brand logo and a unique navigational system that replaces the more traditional site map. The goal of RIN is to deliver the site content to users in a smooth and natural way as if they were reading a magazine or book as opposed to being directed by links, buttons or call-to-action text.

RIN is also an attempt at creating a uniform look and feel over all of Tzu Selah’s blogs, videos, ebooks and other digital media. Its implementation requires considerable work but the end result will be one place that all of the products feed back into.

RIN has been likened to the product route shown in the movie The Matrix. The purpose of which is to give Neo a sense of direction and orientation, without spoon-feeding him step by step instructions. It’s also been described as a navigation version of the film’s “bullet time” effect.

To get a sneak peek of what this looks like, check out the videos on the right and below the main blog on this page.

The Daily - The Daily is Tzu Selah’s proprietary tool to make managing your personal schedule easier. It has a timeline view that displays your due dates in an easily manageable way while allowing you to note meetings, events and other information that needs to be updated. Check it out!

The Lifestyle Blog - As the author of Tzu Selah’s Lifestyle Blog, I am in charge of its content. I do all of the posts as well as link verification and editing. The topics that I write about cover a wide range of topics and include:

The Takuo Blog - An international blog. The Takuo Blog introduces Chinese immigrants to important news stories in their home countries and the United States, as well as posting information about immigration issues in those countries.

The Book - The Book is Tzu Selah's flagship product. It contains the case studies found on the site along with a lot of additional resources for business owners.

Tzu Selah Chalkboards - Chalkboards are another product that you can find on the Tzu Selah website. They’re made by hand and they come in various colors and designs. You’ll see the chalkboards when you visit the "Our Products" page.

Tzu Selah Clothing - If you have a favorite article on the web that someone could wear, please email us and we’ll try to add it to our site.

Tzu Selah Blog - The Tzu Selah blog is a place where I publish all of the posts that don’t fit into the other categories. Look for teasers on here occasionally as well.

The Tzuselah Podcast - You can find out about new stuff by subscribing to our podcast, Ask The Pro. The podcasts are short segments where I answer student questions in an effort to help them get better at what they do.

Creative Commons - Creative Commons is a set of licenses that allows you to share your original content with other people while still retaining the copyright. You can choose to share your content in a very liberal manner or you may, as I have, select a medium level of sharing which allows some of the more permissive rights but requires additional attribution.

Google Adsense - Google Adsense is our main source of income. Each page has several ads displayed on it, generated by adsense and contextualized for the page's theme or topic.

Adsense ads appear under the bottom or side bar of a page while monetizing the user experience. Adsense ads may appear alongside partner ads, which pay more but have fewer permissions.

Google Adsense is not an affiliate program.

RSS - RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a technology that allows an author to track their content and deliver it to readers in a configurable format. This can be as basic as creating reminders to check back for new posts or as comprehensive as creating subscriptions to events like World Water Day or Superbowl 48.

There are two main components to RSS: an external system and software that will pull content from the system. The first component is the RSS system itself, which may be hosted externally or internally. The second component is the software that an author uses to pull content from their RSS.

In this way, if you visit and subscribe to Tzu Selah's RSS feed, you will receive an email when new content goes up on the site. This can be used to track the site's performance as well as receive notifications of new products or blog posts.

For a more technical explanation of RSS and ways to use it with your own website, check out this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS

Conclusion

Over the years the site has seen many changes. Starting with a simple blog and a single ebook, it has grown into an established resource for business owners of all types. The site even saw several facelifts as the brand matured and its lineup of products grew. However, one thing remains constant: the real experts are our customers, who are willing to share their experiences and discuss issues with other business owners.

Throughout its history as well as today, this ability to share information offers a better chance for success in today's economy and beyond.
