Work From Home – You Can Work In The Nude If You So Desire
Do you remember that Seinfeld episode where Elaine works from home and finds herself stark naked in front of a video chat with her boss? If not, it's likely because this is the last thing most people want to do when they work from home. Sure, there are many benefits to working at home – but arguably one of the downsides is that it can be difficult to protect privacy.
The good news is there are ways around this problem! This includes working in your underwear or going so far as to wear an elaborate pantomime outfit created by dress maker Caroline Charles. When a friend of mine, a dance teacher, told me about her work and the way that she would go topless in front of students to get them moving, I knew she was onto something.
While I am not a big fan of working from home, there are times when the right solution outweighs the privacy concerns. As a dancer, and even more so as a teacher , I know how much it is for the dancers to have an opportunity to work out amidst other like-minded people who understand their behaviours. Working out in public is something that helps many people release tension and allows them to feel like they are being productive even if it's only for 15 minutes or 30 minutes. When the dancers are working out in public, there is no time for getting undressed.
Another option that may be right for some dancers is to work with a special dress code that allows them to write on their bodies. This would be more difficult for me, as I don't have any tattoos and scars regularly fade. For right now though, all I know is that the feeling of being surrounded by fellow dancers who understand you wraps itself around you and makes it easier to deal with whatever challenges you face during the day at home.

It's interesting how we as dancers can be so driven by social media that we don't see that there are also many other outlets besides facebook and twitter for us to express ourselves in our own way.

During the days that I am not dancing, I am often thinking about the next thing that I will be creating. When it comes to dance, I love my privacy and would never want to be in a situation where I felt like I was being watched in any way, shape or form. That is why when my music teacher was working with me one day and we discovered a new way of moving, she immediately encouraged me to find a place where I could work out this movement all by myself and in complete privacy.
