Becoming self-sufficient in basic home cleaning and organization

I
n an ideal world, every person would be fully self-sufficient and independent, able to provide for themselves and own home without the need for outside help. Unfortunately, most of us have become too reliant on others. We don’t know how to do laundry or cook a meal. We don't clean our homes or organize our closets.

This post is here to teach you the basics of these skills so that you never have to ask anyone else for help again! Included are tips for all your basic cleaning needs.

The first thing you need to do is get a cleaning schedule going. For best results, try to keep the same time every day or at least on the same days of the week. This helps you to get into a routine that is easy to manage.

First, wake up early. Most people don't function well early in the morning after they have had a good night's sleep and are fresh and ready to start their day. Do your most difficult tasks first while you are at your peak performance level. And remember that it takes twice as much time and energy to accomplish something later in the day when you aren’t operating at full capacity!

Clean as you go . When you make a mess, clean it up right away. Don't wait until you have ten things on your kitchen counter or bathroom sink. It's easy to make clutter and never notice how fast it accumulates. This is why routines are so important - they help you stay on top of things!

Make a checklist . Make a list of everything related to cleaning that has to be done, and check off each item as you complete it. This way, you can stay focused on what needs to get done and won’t forget anything important.

Clean your home in order of importance . What rooms of your home are most important? Which parts of the house take the longest for you to clean? If you know where to start, it will be easier to get everything done.

Stop procrastinating. Procrastination is the biggest enemy of all people who have to get their home cleaned. Waiting until later makes it harder and harder to do what needs to be done. Put tasks off as long as you can, and then tackle them at once so they don’t build up and overwhelm you!

Simplify your cleaning . Only do what's absolutely necessary when you clean your home. Most people over complicate their cleaning tasks and work themselves in a big hurry.

Don't do it in a fit of anger. If something isn't working, cooling down will help you think better and be more creative.

Be methodical . Go through each room on your list to clean it one by one. Don’t fall into the trap of trying to get everything done at once - that will only lead to you getting frustrated, and then your cleaning won’t get done at all!

The second thing to understand about basic cleaning is how to get organized! Being organized is a necessary skill for anyone who wants a tidy home. There are many places that need to be organized in your home, but the first place to start will always be with your closets. Closet organization is the basis for all other home organization because once you get your closets in order, it's easier to get everything else done!

Here we have all the best closet organizing tips:

First, organize your shoes . It's not just women who suffer from too many shoes. Shoes take up a lot of space and are hard to keep organized. A great way to store them is on the floor inside of a closet if there is enough room. If not, use shoe holders and store each pair in a drawer with their own individual rows. You can also use shoe boxes to keep everything sorted and identified.

Make the most of closet space . Closets are hard to use because they're so small and cramped. Make the most of the closet space you have – make sure it's well organized! Make sure there are no items hanging around your closet from previous organization attempts - get rid of them so that you can start again!

Clothing hooks . Hanging clothes is one of the easiest ways to get your closet organized. You can organize your clothing into categories: casual, formal, and sports.

Use a small hanging rack to hang coats , scarves, hats, and dresses.

Organize the rest of your closet with shelves and bins . Use a wire hanger rack or shelving unit to store socks and underwear in drawers underneath the clothes. Use small baskets or bins to store outerwear on top of the hangers – they need less closet space than hangers and are much more secure. Other bins can be used for shoes, belts, scarves, ties and belts. Keep all your small items in another bin and store them above the shelves.

Organize your accessories during the summer . Be sure to organize small accessories and jewelry during the summer when you wear fewer clothing items. This way, you can see what you have and use it more often.

Have a place where everything goes . Your closet has to be a place you can put anything - that's why it’s important to make sure everything has a place where it belongs!

Now that you've cleaned up your home, here are some basic tips on how to take care of the floors.

Use a broom and mop to clean your floors . The easiest way to clean your floors is with a broom and some cleaner. You can use this same method of cleaning if you have an all purpose cleaner that works on tile as well as hard floors. Make sure the cleaners you use are safe for use on both hard and soft surfaces.

Consider waxing or sealing . This is an easy step to take when you're ready to clean floors, but it's also a must if you want them to look great for years! Once you've washed the floor, wipe it down with a cloth or sponge. Wipe from top to bottom until the dirt dries in one direction. This will prevent streaking.

Use a rag or towel to dry for the last pass to wipe any excess moisture off the floor. Then, pour some polish on a towel and buff your floors until they shine like glass! Use a rag or microfiber cloth to dust and clean your floor afterwards. Don't forget to wash up all spills and marks with warm water as soon as possible because they stain fast!
