Developing your own opinions and beliefs
The way that someone lives their life is a unique and personal decision. There are an infinite number of values, principles, and beliefs in the world, and yet people have to pick one. And they can't just pick any one – they have to decide whether or not they want to live under those beliefs which might end up being very different from everyone else’s.
The way that a person decides to live their life is the foundation for their character. What you believe in, and how you act on those beliefs, is everything to your character. This doesn't change just because someone else thinks differently.
Try to remember that everyone has their own beliefs and values, and they're not wrong because they're different from yours. You can disagree with other people – everyone's mind is able to think independently from each other – but this doesn't mean that just because another person thinks differently from you means that they should automatically be wrong. If they disagree with you (or maybe even insult or bully you), this does not mean that there's no truth in what they have said.
True strength comes from being able to stand by your beliefs no matter what anyone else says. It means that you would rather be right than to be popular, because the truth is more important than a lie that everyone else believes.
Your beliefs and values will shape the person you are, and this is why it's important to consider them when making decisions about your life. What do you care about the most? What is worth fighting for? What do you want your legacy to be? Don't live just to please others, but try to pursue what makes you happy – even if that means causing conflict with those closest to you.
Acting on your beliefs will help you grow into a better person. When you do something for the right reasons, it feels right. Once you've done something to make yourself happy (even if others don't agree), it feels right – and if that makes you happy… then that's all that matters.
It's good to try out different types of beliefs and philosophies. There are many heroes in history who have made the ultimate sacrifices for their beliefs, and this is why we admire them so much. However, just because someone has made a sacrifice doesn't mean that we should unconditionally support them. We should always be willing to hear what the other person has to say, and we can still support their beliefs without agreeing with them.
Just because you believe something doesn't make it wrong. There are many things that I might do that others may consider inappropriate or even disgusting, but I know for a fact that they're not wrong because I believe in them. Being someone who does everything for the right reasons is one of the most important character traits in the world, and you should make sure to stay true to yourself... no matter how many people disagree with you.

Daily Quiet Time:
Read the following passage out loud with intention. Then, write about how this relates to your life in some way:
“I take refuge in myself. May I learn to content myself in simple things in order to be free of inner restlessness and outer distraction. May I learn to be satisfied with what is available, rather than always wanting more.” ~ Unknown
