Florida Group Health Insurance was established on January 1st, 2000 by The University of Florida Physician Associates LLC and United Healthcare Incorporated as SCI Group Health Insurance Incorporated with five participating physicians per practice region in the State of Florida.

Vicente Rivera is the current President of United Healthcare Incorporated and Florida Group Health Insurance. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Chancellor Company that was formed in January 2001. He has served in these leadership roles since February 2001.
Prior to this, he served as a member of the administration team at United Healthcare, where he held numerous positions including: executive vice president and chief operating officer of United Healthcare of Florida Inc. (since 1998), executive vice president and chief financial officer of United Healthcare of Florida Inc. (since 1996) and executive vice president-Group Account Director for Southern Field Operations with Kaiser Permanente (from 1993-1995).
He is a graduate from the University of Puerto Rico with a Bachelor's in Business Administration in 1974. He also attended Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he received his Master's Degree in Health Care Administration in 1999.
Mr. Rivera has 26 years of health care experience with over 17 years in executive leadership. This includes 12 years at United Healthcare Inc-which is one of the largest and fastest growing health insurance companies in the United States-and 4 years as COO of Florida Group Health Insurance. He also serves on the board for UF Health Shands Hospital, St. Mary's Health System, and SCI Health Plans Inc.
